Job Description
As a Development Technician, you will work in the laboratory as a member of automotive refinish technical team at Delaware, OH. You will support Refinish coatings R&D and contribute to the development of new products focusing on primers, sealers and surfacers. You will prepare paint samples and conducting tests using the Design of Experiment (DOE) methodology from Senior Chemists. This role is critical in ensuring the development and quality of our paints through testing, analysis, and documentation. You will independently lead raw materials replacement projects.

Key Responsibilities

Safety first attitude for every task assigned. Follow all safety protocols and ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations.

Prepare and mix paint samples according to defined formulations and specifications.

Perform tests on paint samples, including viscosity, color matching, durability, and adhesion, following standard operating procedures.

Use Design of Experiment (DOE) techniques to plan and implement experiments for product development, quality control, and process optimization.

Analyze experimental data, recording findings in detailed technical reports.

Operate and maintain lab equipment and ensure all instruments are calibrated and functioning properly.

Collaborate with the chemists to support new product development and improvements to existing formulations.

Troubleshoot technical issues related to paint formulations and testing processes.

Follows corporate policies and government regulations by compliance with established standards on business conduct, environmental issues, EEO
Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent with successful completion of algebra and chemistry
-
5+ years of laboratory experience

Some post high school education (Associates or technical school) is preferred.

Spray application or coatings formulation experience is preferred.

Ability to lift to 50 pounds
