About the Role

The Team Lead, Field Operations role is essential to ensuring smooth, high-quality field operations, with a significant focus on managing the workforce lifecycle and administrative function.  This role is a blend of field oversight, administrative management, and team development.

Responsibilities

  • This role will lead a team of in-house techs and portfolio associates
  • This position will split time equally between fieldwork and administrative duties, with 50% spent in each area
  • Lead and coordinate comprehensive maintenance efforts for multi-family and single-family properties, ensuring operational efficiency across routine, preventive, and emergency type work orders or tasks.  
  • Serve as the lead contact for emergency responses, prioritizing and addressing urgent situations with technical expertise and decisiveness to mitigate risks and protect the property.
  • Responsible for interviewing, and selecting qualified candidates for the team, the Team Lead will ensure that new hires align with the operational standards and values of the organization.
  • Coordinate the onboarding process for new team members, providing training and resources to ensure a smooth transition into field operations.
  • Analyze daily and weekly reports to identify risks, take proactive actions, and provide guidance to the team.
  • Lead termination processes in accordance with company policies.
  • Review and approval payroll for field team members, ensuring accuracy in time-tracking.
  • Hold team to high service standards and productivity benchmarks across managed properties, ensuring compliance with SOPs and providing performance feedback and coaching as needed. 
  • The Team Lead will serve as a point of contact between the field team and other departments, working closely with leadership and cross-functional partners to address issues, align on immediate goals, and improve day-to-day operational efficiency.
  • In addition to operational duties, the Team Lead will hold on going one on ones to provide ongoing mentorship and support to field staff, helping develop their skills and promoting professional growth within the team.
  • Travel as needed to various property locations and / or markets to provide hand-on support, conduct inspections, and ensure consistency in maintenance standards and operational practices.
  • Perform routine quality assurance by visiting job sites, ride along and reviewing administrative tasks including but not limited to proper work order completion, inventory upkeep and reviewing expenses

Qualifications

  • 3+ years management experience
  • 5+ years experience in property maintenance for multi-family / single-family properties, with a strong background in routine, preventative, and emergency maintenance.
  • Advanced knowledge of tools, equipment, and techniques used in property maintenance, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general repairs.  Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex maintenance issues and guide teams in effective problem-solving.
  • HVAC Type I and Type II or Universal certification strongly desired
  • Strong mentoring, coaching, and team-building abilities.  Proven success in training and developing team members, fostering a positive and productive work environment, and leading by example in technical proficiency and professionalism.  
  • Strong verbal and written skills, with a track record of effective collaboration with cross-functional partners and direct reports.
  • Competency in using technology systems for tracking, scheduling, and communication, with experience leveraging data to drive improvement in team performance and operational efficiency.  
  • Valid Driver’s license and reliable transportation

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Compensation

$65,000 - $76,000 annually. The compensation range may be adjusted based on experience and location. 

Pay Transparency

Our compensation reflects several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position represents the expected salary for this position.  Ultimately, in determining your pay it will be based on several factors including location, job-related knowledge, skills, experience and other job related factors.  Roofstock is a total compensation company; the base salary is only part of our total compensation package.
