General Description:
The Tax Specialist will play a critical role in supporting the APAC ex-China Tax team by handling day-to-day compliance and reporting tasks across multiple markets. This position will focus on managing direct and indirect tax compliance, ensuring accuracy in tax filings, assisting with tax audits, and supporting tax process standardisation and Transfer Pricing initiatives. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to develop their tax expertise and grow within an international tax function.
Essential Functions of the job:
- Tax compliance and reporting:
- Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly, and annual tax returns (VAT/GST, WHT & CIT) across multiple APAC markets.
- Assist in the preparation of tax provisions and deferred tax calculations under US GAAP and local statutory requirements.
- Ensure compliance with local tax regulations and respond to inquiries from tax authorities.
- Transfer Pricing Support:
- Assist in preparing and maintaining Transfer Pricing documentation and country-by-country reporting (CbCR).
- Collaborate with the TP team to ensure compliance with local regulations and cross-border transactions.
- Tax Audit and Risk Management:
- Support tax audits by gathering relevant documentation and preparing responses to tax authorities.
- Assist in identifying and mitigating tax risks, ensuring compliance with local and international regulations.
- Process Standardisation and Improvement:
- Contribute to the standardisation of tax processes across the APAC region to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Support the implementation of tax technology solutions and process improvements.
- Tax Account Reconciliation:
- Reconcile tax accounts to ensure accurate recording of tax liabilities and payments.
- Identify and resolve discrepancies in tax accounts, minimising errors in financial reporting.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with internal teams (Accounting, Treasury, HR) and external advisers to manage tax compliance across different jurisdictions.
- Provide guidance on tax-related matters and ensure alignment with business objectives.
- Strategic Tax Support:
- Assist with tax planning initiatives, Transfer Pricing reviews, and other strategic tax projects.
- Participate in tax governance and internal tax control improvement efforts.
Qualification Required:
Education Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related field.
- 2–4 years of experience in tax compliance or advisory, preferably in a multinational corporation or professional services firm.
- Experience with APAC tax regulations is preferable, including Corporate Income Tax (CIT), VAT/GST, and Withholding Tax (WHT).
- Familiarity with Transfer Pricing (TP) and international tax compliance.
- Currently pursuing CPA/CA qualification or equivalent, or close to being qualified.
