In this role, you will work directly with the senior manager and director of the Tax Information Reporting and Withholding (IR&W) team. Your mission will be to ensure that eBay’s corporate tax policies, methods, standards, processes, reporting, and training are thoroughly developed, applied, and understood by all relevant partners!
Key Responsibilities:
• Review, analyze, and implement new information reporting and withholding requirements.
• Draft business requirement documents (BRD) for withholding, electronic 1099s, and other reporting requirements.
• Collaborate with product and engineering, legal and privacy, risk and compliance, accounting, and other cross-functional teams to capture facts and develop strategies to ensure compliance with IR&W procedures such as withholding and reporting requirements.
• Manage integration projects for acquired companies, ensuring their information reporting and withholding processes align with eBay’s core procedures, while identifying and addressing any potential gaps or risks.
• Identify procedural and systems gaps and differences in reporting procedures between company entities and implement standardization where possible.
• Partner with teams to optimize tax processes and leverage technology to implement IR&W processes, including withholding and crypto.
• Work with analytics to build reports for forecasting withholding and reporting.
• Analyze information used in the preparation of various information returns and collaborate with third-party tax vendors on information returns.
• Assist with IRS Notices such as CP2100 and taxpayer identification number (TIN) solicitations.
• Review Forms W-9, W-8BEN, W-8BEN-E, Letter 147C, Letter 685C, and similar documentation.
• Become familiar with all eBay marketplace platforms and the tax information collection experience for each platform.
• Provide support to IR&W team members as needed.
You Will Bring:
• 1+ years of people leadership, managerial, or supervisory experience.
• 2-4 years of experience supporting multiple projects simultaneously.
• 2-4 years of experience building positive relationships with partners, colleagues, and collaborators.
• 2-4 years of experience working with IRS tax forms (e.g., W-8/W-9) validation is preferred.
• 2-4 years of experience with US tax principles is preferred.
• Proficiency in MS Excel, Google Sheets, MS PowerPoint, Google Slides, and Atlassian’s Jira and Confluence products.
• Clear and concise communication skills.
• Ability to quickly grasp complex tax requirements and communicate them to other partners.
• Ability to work independently and as a collaborative team member.
