Position Summary: The Tax Analyst - LATAM will be responsible for ensuring compliance with local and regional tax laws and regulations, supporting tax-related operations, and identifying tax savings opportunities. This role requires expertise in direct and indirect taxes, ancillary obligations, and strong collaboration skills with internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Tax Compliance and Reporting:
    • Review and file tax returns, including corporate income tax, value-added tax (VAT), and other tax filings as required.
    • Ensure compliance with ancillary obligations, including social security contributions, labor obligations, and other non-tax obligations.
    • Monitor and assess changes in tax legislation to determine their impact on the company’s operations.
    • Control tax credit balances and manage offsets (e.g., PERDCOMP filings).
  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Collaborate with internal teams and external service providers to ensure accurate and timely tax compliance and reporting.
    • Liaise with external BPO consulting firms across LATAM to address tax requirements in different countries.
    • Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders, including participation in meetings and drafting documentation in English, Spanish, and Portuguese.
  • Analysis and Review:
    • Analyze fiscal documents, including incoming and outgoing invoices, to ensure compliance with local tax legislation.
    • Identify potential bottlenecks in billing processes and recommend practical solutions.
    • Support finance and accounting teams with tax provisions, estimates, and ancillary obligations.
  • Audits and Investigations:
    • Provide support for internal and external audits, as well as inquiries from tax authorities.
    • Assist in the preparation of documents, disputes, and responses related to tax investigations.
  • Technology and Process Improvements:
    • Support the implementation and enhancement of tax software and systems, such as SAP (S/4HANA), TaxOne.
    • Help improve and implement SOX controls related to tax processes.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field.
  • 3-5+ years of experience in tax analysis or a similar role, with significant experience in Brazilian tax laws (direct and indirect taxes) and ancillary obligations.
  • Proven knowledge of LATAM tax laws and regulations.
  • Strong communication skills, with fluency in Portuguese and English; proficiency in Spanish is desirable.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and tax software (e.g., SAP,  Mastersaf).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with tax engine systems such as Vertex, Guepardo or TaxOne.
  • Familiarity with SAP (S/4HANA).
  • Demonstrated ability to identify tax planning strategies and recommend actionable solutions.
