Prepare and/or review returns and reports for Sales and use tax, personal property tax, and income/franchise tax.
Responsibilities:
- Preparation and review of sales and use tax filings, and research related to taxability of purchases and sales in various jurisdictions. Preparation of refund claims.
- Analysis of driver miles and fuel. Preparation of state fuel tax refund claims.
- Preparation and/or review of personal property tax returns. Analysis of information needed for the preparation of these filings.
- Compilation and analysis of information for the preparation of income and franchise tax returns. Preparation of state and local income and franchise tax estimates and returns.
- Provide assistance with tax audits.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisory personnel.
- Regular attendance as agreed to with supervisory personnel.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, or equivalent experience.
- One to two years of tax preparation or accounting experience preferred.
- Transportation experience a plus.
- One to two years of sales and use tax experience a plus.
- Ability to meet deadlines.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Good organizational and self-review skills.
- High degree of accuracy.
- Personal computer skills, including a working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Knowledge of general accepted accounting principles.
- Knowledge of tax preparation and accounting systems (may be gained through on the job training).
