Verition Fund Management LLC (“Verition”) is a multi-strategy, multi-manager hedge fund founded in 2008. Verition focuses on global investment strategies including Global Credit, Global Convertible, Volatility & Capital Structure Arbitrage, Event-Driven Investing, Equity Long/Short & Capital Markets Trading, and Global Quantitative Trading.
We are looking for a Systems Operations Engineer who will help provide day-to-day support and maintenance for third party systems and applications.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor system performance and proactively address potential issues.
- Troubleshoot and resolve system-related issues in both production and non-production environments.
- Support system upgrades, migrations, and patch management in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Work with third-party vendors to resolve technical issues with external systems (e.g., trading platforms, risk management systems).
- Implement and maintain automation scripts to streamline operational tasks.
- Document systems, processes, and best practices for team reference.
- Manage cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred), including scaling and resource optimization.
- Configure, monitor, and secure Linux/Unix and Windows-based systems.
- Manage hotfix releases and patches to ensure system security and stability.
- Automate operational tasks, including job scheduling, task execution, and deployment using tools like Jenkins, Control-M, and Apache Airflow.
Required Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of experience in Systems Operations, IT Support, or a similar technical role.
- Proficiency in Linux/Unix and Windows OS with experience in system administration (file, service, and process management).
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred; Azure, Google Cloud also considered), including setup and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, TeamCity, or similar for automation and job scheduling.
- Experience with job schedulers (Control-M, Apache Airflow).
- Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, PowerShell, Bash) for task automation and troubleshooting.
- Solid understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP) and troubleshooting.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to resolve system issues efficiently.
- Good communication skills to collaborate with internal teams and external vendors.
- Attention to detail in documenting systems, processes, and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in financial services, hedge funds, or asset management.
- Familiarity with monitoring and alerting tools (e.g., Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana).
- Knowledge of automation and DevOps best practices.
- AWS experience is strongly preferred but not mandatory.
Salary Range
$130,000—$180,000 USD
