Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced System Engineer to join our dynamic team. As a System Operations Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our company’s strategy for Application Management. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of hardware, software, and networking components to meet our business objectives. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in application management using SCCM to manage large scale environments. The candidate should also have a working knowledge or foundational understanding of MS Intune.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain scalable and reliable systems infrastructure to support our organization’s operations.
- Collaborate with software developers, network engineers, and other stakeholders to design and implement integrated solutions.
- Provide expertise in managing and maintaining ongoing application management efforts utilizing SCCM
- Create, Modify, and Maintain Group Policy Objects (GPOs) within the organization.
- Perform system monitoring and backup tasks which include tuning, and optimization to ensure maximum uptime and efficiency.
- Develop and maintain documentation, including system diagrams, procedures, and configurations.
- The candidate should possess strong problem-solving skills, with an ability to think on their feet and make quick, informed decisions to resolve issues efficiently and independently when necessary.
- Assist 1st and 2nd-level HD teams in troubleshooting and resolving complex issues promptly.
- Participate in on-call rotation and respond to system emergencies as needed.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a System Engineer or similar role, with a minimum of 8 years in system administration or engineering.
- Strong understanding of networking concepts, protocols, and technologies (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, etc.).
- Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware, HyperV, or KVM.
- Knowledge of cloud computing platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Familiarity with scripting languages (Bash, PowerShell, terraform, python) for automation and configuration management
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications such as MCSE, RHCE, or AWS Certified SysOps Administrator or equivalent.
- Experience with containerization and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools (CI/CD, Jenkins, Ansible, Terraform).
- Understanding of cybersecurity principles and best practices.
This is an exempt position. The base compensation range for this role is $99,000 - $125,000. At VillageMD, compensation is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, location, etc. The selected candidate will be eligible for a valuable company benefits plan, including health insurance, dental insurance, life insurance, and access to a 401k plan
