Job Description

The Systems Business Analyst, Sr acts as a liaison between Investment Management Systems and Investment Management business groups.  The individual is responsible for defining and documenting business needs and functional requirements and ensuring technology solutions enhance and support the business operations.  The individual also identifies technology alternatives and recommends system solutions to business and technical audiences.  The Senior Systems Business Analyst participates in all phases of the systems development life cycle, which for the Investment Management Systems team is carried out iteratively – from product/backlog management, iteration/sprints and testing to release management.

1. Planning and Organization

·         Develop clear, concise methodology documents (generally in epic/story form), which requires proficiency in interviewing skills, workflow analysis, dataflow diagramming, screen design, etc.

·         Review and assist in development of project plans, project workflows and resource assignments as requested by Project Manager.

·         Facilitate the definition of functional requirements by working with programmer analysts and users in prototyping and design sessions.

·         Translate and present project concepts into effective visual images which clarify design elements and issues for both business and technical audiences

2. Project Management

·         Manage distinct efforts (epics) through the iterative development process as assigned by the Project Manager.

·         Ensure methodology is followed for efforts and overall projects; provide meaningful feedback in accordance with departmental standards and guidelines.

·         Maintain issue log; coordinate and support communications surrounding both systems and user acceptance for assigned effort(s).

·         Identify, mediate, resolve and eliminate miscommunications between business and technical project team members.

·         Conduct user training.

3. Execution

·         Use SQL or reporting/BI tools (such as Qlik Sense) to perform data analysis, validate report requirements and confirm test results.

·         Participate in development of test strategy, test plans and test cases

·         Translate system workflows into system configuration

·      Participate in test execution and document results

4. Coaching & Development

·         Provide coaching and training to more junior team members across roles.

·         Identify and recommend improvements to the iterative development process itself, through retrospectives with business and Systems participants.  Document and implement those changes in cooperation with the Project Manager

Qualifications include:

·        7+ years experience at a financial services company - preferably for an investment management business

·        Working directly with business counterparts to clarify their requests, translate them to workable functional requirements, and coordinate acceptance testing

·        Working directly with development teams to describe requirements, answer questions, and perform integration/QA testing

·        2+ years of experience working in an iterative development environment (any framework), or demonstrated success adapting to and thriving in alternative development methodologies

·        Professional communication skills

·        Able to use standard desktop tools effectively, including Microsoft Office and Lotus Notes

·        Able to use wide range of office automation software, such as more advanced Excel techniques, PowerPoint presentations, FrontPage, etc.

   

Salary Range

$120,000-$170,000

BBH’s compensation program includes base salary, discretionary bonuses, and profit-sharing. The anticipated base salary range(s) shown above are only for the indicated location(s) and may differ in other locations due to cost of living and labor considerations. Base salaries may vary based on factors such as skill, experience and qualification for the role.
