Position Summary:
Responsible for supporting the NPI and on-market activities in production of Illumina’s genetic sequencing instrumentation. Be the main Instrument Operation interface with product development team in Singapore, US, and UK to verify instrument system integrity and functionality. This position will involve hands-on technical tasks involving all aspects of the system engineering process including design review and analysis, test/integration/characterization, failure analysis and cost reduction.
Position Responsibilities:
- Hands on testing and integration of DNA Sequencing or Micro Array Instrumentation using standard protocols under ISO Certification.
- Deploy test process / strategy to ensure system level requirement are met and manage test specifications changes throughout product lifecycle.
- Involve early with development team and understand the system level design and interaction of different functional components including optics, fluidics, motion system, and advanced image sensors/camera for cutting-edge genetic analysis instruments.
- Hands-on system-level and debugging and drive root cause analysis for hardware, firmware, software, and chemistry/reagent problems on complex systems (e.g. Instruments with optical & fluidics sub-systems).
- Complete Non-conformance Records based on the investigation and drive the release of instruments back to production.
- Establish Engineering Study to support various experiments and data collection efforts.
- To perform root-cause analysis for complex production issues through systematic problem-solving techniques (8D method, fish-bone diagrams & etc.)
- Write and update work instructions as needed to improve test procedures.

Position Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience, preferably working on electro-opto-mechanical systems on complex products which driven by embedded system, preferably scientific instrumentation related to biotech applications
- Experience with basic scripting for pulling/debugging information from embedded system with Linux (Oracle) System.
- Strong analytical background, statistical analysis fundamentals and critical thinking skill with backgrounds of using data analytics to drive decisions
- Experienced in using statistical tools (i.e: JMP) for test data analysis, and requirement/test management tools (i.e: JAMA).
- Excellent team player, interpersonal and communication skills.
- Willingness to travel to US for extended stays while learning the technology and working with the US design teams.
- Possess excellent GDP, ISO & cGMP experience.
- Experience with FDA regulated medical device product development preferred.

Preferred Experience/Education/Skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Science or Bio-engineering or related field
- Minimum 3 years working experience in Life Science Industry (Medical Device is preferred) with knowledge in DNA Sequencing/Micro Array/Liquid Handling Robot and systems testing – hardware, firmware, software, and chemistry/reagents.
- Experience with Linux system will be a plus
