Your mission:
As a Systems Administrator, you will be responsible for the implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of IT systems within a large-scale Linux environment. You will provide support for day-to-day operations, ensure system integrity, optimize performance, and resolve technical issues for a variety of client, server, storage, and network components. Your expertise will contribute to system reliability, security, and operational efficiency.
You will excel in this role if you are:
- A proactive troubleshooter who can identify, diagnose, and resolve system issues
- Skilled in optimizing system operations and resource utilization
- Detail-oriented and capable of performing system capacity analysis and planning
- Adept at configuring and managing UNIX and Windows operating systems
- Experienced in supporting the design of mission-critical IT systems
- Knowledgeable in Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) and IT system interdependencies
A day in the life consists of:
- Implement, troubleshoot, and maintain IT systems
- Provide Tier 1 (Help Desk) and Tier 2 (Escalation) support for problem identification, diagnosis, and resolution
- Manage daily system operations, monitoring, and resource utilization
- Assist users with IT system access and usage
- Support escalation and communication of system status to internal customers and agency management
- Perform in-depth troubleshooting and provide feedback for escalated tickets
- Maintain system security integrity, configure network components, and implement enhancements for reliability and performance
Must Have:
- TS/SCI with polygraph clearance
- 15+ years of experience as a Systems Administrator in programs of similar scope, type, and complexity
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline (or an additional 5 years of experience in lieu of a degree)
- Security+ certification
- Experience using the Linux CLI and developing scripts with Bash/Python
- Experience performing system administration for large-scale Linux environments, including installation and support of COTS/GOTS/FOSS software
- Strong understanding of compute, network, memory, and storage system components
- Experience with Red Hat Satellite for systems management
- Experience with the sustainment and support of large Linux clusters, including daily operations and troubleshooting
- Experience configuring and managing VMware ESXi/virtualization environments
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles and automation tools such as SaltStack and Ansible
- Experience with corporate security compliance policies and procedures
- Proficiency in system monitoring tools such as HPE OneView and Nagios
- Experience with Docker and containerization technologies
Nice to have:
- Experience with container orchestration technologies such as Kubernetes
- Familiarity with distributed file systems such as Weka, CEPH, GPFS, and HDFS
- Experience with Atlassian tools such as JIRA and Confluence
