Job Description:
The Opportunity
The procurement function reports through to Supply Chain. In your role as Indirect Sustainability Sourcing Consultant, you will leverage external consultants and internal business SMEs to optimise short- and long-term commercial outcomes, primarily focused on delivering McD's indirect sustainability roadmap.
What will my accountabilities be?
Indirect Sustainability

  • Collaboratively develop plans to meet 2025, 2030 and 2050 targets
  • Provide recommendations to Head of on actions required
  • Utilise best practise develop commercially sustainable objectives
  • Develop combined Indirect roadmap and follow up on implementation
  • Collaborate with Development to ensure objectives are also aligned with commercial imperatives
  • Influence stakeholders, both franchisees and corporate to support recommendations
  • Develop and run trials in climate innovation (as endorsed by the Supply Chain Leadership Team)


Energy Analysis and Procurement

  • Work with our external Energy Consultants to design/deliver an energy roadmap to deliver long-term sustainable value
  • Procure energy via our External Consultant in line with our Risk Management Strategy
  • Manage McDonald's renewable energy strategy including power purchase agreements, REGO purchasing and on-site generation opportunities
  • Work collaboratively with our Strategic Finance department to review and improve our energy risk management strategy
  • Drive supplier performance through governance and contract management
  • Influence stakeholders, both franchisees and corporate, to support recommendations
  • Create a communications framework through which we can communicate to Franchisees about our strategy and gain buy-in


Waste & Packaging Management

  • Manage suppliers delivering Full Circle Waste (FCW = centralized waste collection and reporting) initiative
  • Accountability for managing transition from current contract to FCW
  • Accountability for meeting target to recycle all restaurant waste by 2027 (through FCW)
  • Commercial management of FCW including oversight of material commodity value and return on facility investment as part of supplier contract
  • Assessment of FCW KPI's and supplier performance to embed / amend / update FCW deliverables


Other Indirect Spend in supply chain

  • Manage other indirect and sustainability impacting supplier contracts aligned with departments such as uniform, LPG, refrigerants, chemicals


General

  • Facilitate and influence joint collaboration and innovation to drive sound commercial outcomes
  • Develop and manage the business relationship between McDonald's and its suppliers
  • Provides ongoing continuous improvement plus coaching and support for supplier development
  • Stay current with trends to determine and do benchmarking (e.g., commodity pricing, supplier KPIs etc.)
  • Exemplify ethical standards and corporate values through actions and decisions
  • Build and maintain working relationships to clarify communications, generate appropriate solutions and deliver information in a timely fashion to uphold high Supply Chain standards
  • Build strong, cohesive partnerships between McDonald's and our major suppliers
  • Foster teamwork and coordination among major suppliers and internal stakeholders
  • Champion change, and encourage flexibility and agility


What Team will I be a part of?
You would be working within the Sustainable & Indirect Sourcing team as an integral part of the Supply Chain function. In undertaking this work, it is important that you seek a collaborative approach with partners across the department and wider business.
Who are my customers?
As a Indirect Sustainability Sourcing Consultant, you will develop and lead relationships with key internal and external partners, these include the Senior Leadership team, Supply Chain department, Strategic Sourcing, QA, Logistics, Impact, Food Development, Marketing, Business Strategy and Insight, Operations, Supplier Partners, 3rd party Distributor and Franchisees.
Qualifications:
What background do I need to have?
Desirable technical and behavioural skills

  • Knowledge of Sustainable Sourcing and working towards CIPS procurement qualification
  • Experience in FMCG or Retail
  • Able to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • A result driven individual with the ability to meet goals, targets and deliver business plan objectives
  • Proactive in own self-development
  • Strong communication and prioritisation skills
  • Commercial acumen
  • Demonstrated success managing senior stakeholders
  • Knowledgeable and strong in interpersonal skills to effectively influence and engage with Owner/Operators throughout the Company
