We’re seeking a Surplus Lines Tax Specialist who will be responsible for reviewing surplus lines transactions, documents, and filings, and complying with each state’s surplus lines requirements.
Your Impact:

Consult and advise client service teams working in each assigned office regarding surplus lines processes, procedures, rules, and regulations.

Develop effective working relationships with surplus lines team, appropriate representatives of assigned business units, offshore teams, surplus lines filing vendor, and IT support teams.

Set standards, workflows and supervise performance of offshore filing support teams.

Ensure surplus lines tax transactions and filings are accurate for all states and processed within the deadlines set by those states.

Oversee process to prepare and file all initial documents/filings required with respect to each surplus lines policy placed by assigned business units, including broker responsibility forms, affidavits, and required notices with surplus lines filing vendor.

Learn and gain high competency with software platform provided by our surplus lines filing vendor. Work effectively with assigned business units in the use of the platform.

Learn and gain high competency with agency management system used by assigned business units as needed to manage surplus lines filings.

Run open payable reports to ensure that all surplus lines policies and transactions placed by assigned business units are received and processed in a timely manner.

Working with surplus lines team and surplus lines vendor, identify, monitor, and implement any changes required to ensure compliance with each state’s surplus lines requirements.

Audit surplus lines transactions, documents, and filings.

Track and communicate key deliverable dates and provide weekly management reports.

Ensure adherence to company policies, established procedures, etc.

Consistently meet established productivity, schedule adherence and quality standards.
Successful Candidates Will Have:

Bachelor's degree highly preferred.

5+ years’ experience in property and casualty insurance, including experience with surplus lines tax filing and payment
-
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.

Exceptional problem solving and process design skills, with emphasis on excellent customer experience.

Ability to remain focused with multiple, competing deadlines.

Ability to work independently to meet strict deadlines with minimal supervision.

Strong MS Excel skills/experience.

Ability to travel occasionally to One80 offices for team collaboration.

At One80 Intermediaries, base pay is one part of our total compensation package, which also includes a comprehensive suite of benefits, including medical, dental, vision, disability, life, and retirement savings, paid time off and paid holidays for eligible employees. The total compensation for a position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. The expected base pay range for this position is between $24.90 - $27.65 per hour plus discretionary bonus. The actual base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including geographical location, education, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
