What is this role?

As a Supply and Demand Planner, you will be directly involved in the day-to-day management of the sales and operations plan to support production and distribution of finished goods. In this role you will monitor on hand inventory, day-to-day production, and supply plans to develop buying plans with our approved vendors. This role will collaborate internally and with vendors to develop stocking programs, procurement and demand plans. Excellent performance in this role will aid in synchronizing production plans with procurement plans to minimize carrying costs while delivering excellent service to internal partners.

What does an average day look like?

  • Driving Results: Monitor inventory levels, production needs and shipping lead times to manage buying plans.  Monitor weekly and monthly production plans.
  • Taking Ownership: Generate buying plans for buyers to execute based on vendor capacity and sales forecast.  Monitor tooling ramp-up plans against vendor utilization to balance vendor allocation. Monitor and track demand planning metrics such as forecast accuracy, MOH (months on hand), etc. for review with stakeholders.  Monitor vendor pricing to achieve cost savings YOY.
  • Making Decisions: Lead S&OP review with internal stakeholders for forward planning.
  • Cultivating Relationships: Review supplier performance (i.e. On-time delivery, scrap, shipment accuracy, etc.) with internal stakeholders.
  • Instilling Trust: Clearly communicate any supply chain interruptions that may affect production and buy plans while developing mitigation strategies for resolution.
  • Customer Focus: Show strong desire to learn and grow.  Provide suggestions to management for improving processes.

What background should you have?

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, engineering, business, or other related field
  • At least 3 years working in procurement and supply chain management
  • Background or experience in a retail environment a plus
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and order generation (i.e Microsoft Dynamics 365)
  • Experienced in inventory planning and monitoring via ERP and spreadsheets
  • Experienced in purchasing consumer products, packaging and flavor/other raw materials
  • Ability to organize purchasing plans for hundreds of products and SKU variants simultaneously and effectively
  • Meticulous time management skills, ability to meet a constant stream of deadlines
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with fluctuating priorities and deadlines
  • Excellent analytical, reasoning and problem-solving skills
