Diamond Foundry Inc. is solving the thermal limitation at the foundation of today's most exciting tech industries -- AI & cloud compute, electric-car power electronics, and 5G/6G wireless. We have managed to produce the world's first single-crystal diamond wafers and are now on a mission to put a diamond behind every chip. We are the rare unicorn that has grown fast and profitably. We received $515m in funding and are executing a multi-$B expansion plan for one of the greenest forms of tech manufacturing: converting greenhouse gas into diamond wafers using zero-emission energy.

The Supplier Development Engineer is responsible for controlling, developing, and managing suppliers to ensure timely delivery, quality compliance, and cost efficiency. This role involves identifying and implementing supplier management improvements, overseeing critical suppliers to guarantee the on-time delivery of essential materials, and auditing supplier performance. Additionally, the Supplier Development Engineer will develop new suppliers and provide technical guidance, leveraging design engineering knowledge to assess supplier capabilities and support them in meeting factory supply requirements. Expertise in supplier audits and cost-reduction initiatives within the supply chain is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and evaluate supplier performance by establishing and tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure alignment with quality, cost, and delivery goals.
  • Proactively manage supplier relationships by identifying potential risks and mitigating them before they escalate into issues.
  • Implement corrective actions when necessary to address product conformance issues, ensuring that suppliers meet required standards.
  • Assess and confirm supplier capacity and capability to ensure the continuous and reliable supply of products.
  • Identify and develop cost-reduction opportunities within the supply chain through strategies like volume negotiation, market analysis, and cost-efficient design or manufacturing methods.

Requirements

  • At least a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in managing supplier relationships, specifically within the manufacturing/semiconductor industry. Must know about design engineering and equipment functionality to identify the best suppliers and guide them in meeting the factory's supply requirements.
  • Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing tools and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken, for effective communication with international suppliers and stakeholders.
  • Must be willing to travel 50-75% of the time, primarily domestically, with occasional international trips. Travel will mostly be by car, with flights as needed for longer distances.
