The Supplier Development Engineer works at a professional level to ensure that components and products are consistently manufactured in full compliance with specified requirements. Applies knowledge and a solid understanding of product and process engineering. Drives improvement of supplier operations designed to produce reductions in lead time, inventory, PPM/total cost, manufacturing system and ensure ergonomic workstations. Provide technical support (Quality and Engineering) to suppliers in the development of their manufacturing systems to produce PHINIA components.

Key responsibilities
- Definition and follow-up of corrective and preventive actions to reduce supplier rejections.
- Establishment of New Product Launch programs with suppliers.
- Conduct on-site assessments and supplier support visits to improve supplier performance and achieve corporate objectives in the areas of Quality, Cost and Responsiveness. These activities include Technical Site Asessment, design reviews, control plan audits, product audits, problem resolution activities.
- Participation in the approval and verification of local PPAP suppliers.
- Review supplier component design to ensure they meet specified tolerances.
- On-site verification of GP12.
- Management of supplier development system.
- Visit suppliers for PPAP approvals.
- Application of statistical quality tools.
- Verify that component specifications are in accordance with drawings.
- Evaluate supplier machinery and equipment to determine repair and replacement needs.
- Develop plans for specification lines and capabilities as required.
- Actively participate in the Annual Physical Inventory.
What we’re looking for
- Grade: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related career.
- Time in similar position: At least 3 years in a similar position in the automotive industry. Experience as Supplier Quality Engineer or Quality Engineer or Manufacturing Engineer with extensive quality related experience.
- Technical knowledge required: Manufacturing process, Internal Auditor. Supplier Quality Systems Management, Ability to manage multiple projects at the same time, Knowledge and application of Core Tools, failure analysis methodologies, GD&T, VDA 6.3, VDA 6.5, IATF 16949, CQI9, CQI12, CQI15, CQI17, CQI23 Technical Skills according to the commodities in charge.
- Other requirements: Microsoft Office, ISO 14001 Environmental Systems (desirable).
