The Opportunity
The Supervisor of Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) will support the ongoing development and execution of the Enterprise Risk Management Program, which includes risk identification, analysis, measurement, monitoring, and reporting. Reporting to the Manager of ERM, this position will lead other ERM team members in the execution of risk assessments and risk remediation activities, with direct oversight of the Issues Management Framework. In addition, this role will establish relationships and collaborate with subject matter experts in the First and Second Lines of Defense, as well as Internal Audit, as required.
Day in the Life

Maintain, implement, and continuously improve Velera’s Issues Management Framework (IMF) using innovative methods that utilize industry recognized issues management methods, as well as new approaches to quantifying and reporting issues in an actionable manner.

Analyze and document issues with subject matter experts (SMEs) in Technology, Operations, Product, and other departments impacted by the issue. Ensure severity ratings/issue prioritization are appropriately vetted, and remediation strategies are designed to address the underlying risk.

Partner with the Controls SME to document compensating controls, and 2nd Line partners to ensure accuracy.

Maintain status of open issues on a regular basis, which may be determined by the target completion date or the issue priority rating. Ensure updates address progress made towards remediation when applicable, and identify any roadblocks that may require executive action.

Leverage ERM’s GRC tool to log issues and manage towards completion.

Assist with the development and delivery of key risk management metrics/reporting, with an emphasis on extracting issue details into themes and trends to provide to Senior and Executive Management, as well as Risk Committee and the Board of Directors, with an overall status of remediation activity.

Assist with process level risk assessments.

Provide conceptual thinking and apply analytical methods to quantify risk scenarios.

Maintain working knowledge of information technology and how systems and applications integrate with business processes and operations, and their associated risks.

Establish and maintain trusted relationships with management and stakeholders to promote an appropriate level of engagement in ERM activities.

Works routinely with deadlines for the delivery of work product, and manages multiple priorities.

Utilizes proper discretion and maturity in discussing confidential or sensitive matters.

Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

BA/BS in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or related field required.

Advanced degree preferred (MBA); related professional designations/certifications preferred.

Five (5) years’ experience in Enterprise Risk required, preferably in a financial services environment, with banking or credit union experience.

Three (3) years’ experience with enterprise risk framework design and implementation, including experience managing the execution of an ERM program.

Three (3) years’ of direct leadership experience required.

Experience participating in projects and assisting with deliverables for Business Unit Leaders and Management.

Experience with risk assessment software programs and/or GRC systems.
