As a Community Apprentice - Software Engineer Intern, you will work on the Lua-based systems and infrastructure that power the front-ends of the Roblox client and studio applications. You'll be part of a world-class team that is revolutionizing the entertainment industry and empowering millions of players worldwide. During this 12-week apprenticeship, we'll support you as you tackle the hardest problems in tech today – distributed systems, real-time communication, 3D co-experience, extensive data processing, social networking, rendering, physics.

You Will:

  • Design, code, test, and debug features in the Lua-based layers of the Roblox client and studio applications
  • Ship code to production and improve the Roblox ecosystem "from the inside"
  • Report to a team within our Creator or Engine groups that owns an important area of the Lua-based Roblox front-end stack.

You Have:

  • Proficiency with Lua and building on Roblox
  • Passion for contributing to the Roblox development community
  • Excitement for building both Lua-based libraries, foundational layers, and user interfaces
  • No serious or recent moderations incidents and are at least 18-years old

For roles that are based at our headquarters in San Mateo, CA: The starting base pay for this position is as shown below. The actual base pay is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs and market demand. Therefore, in some circumstances, the actual hourly rate could fall outside of this expected range. This pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. Please note that not all benefits shown below are applicable to internship opportunities.

Hourly Pay Range

$60$62 USD

Roles that are based in our San Mateo, CA Headquarters are in-office Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional in-office on Monday and Friday (unless otherwise noted).

Employees engage in a combination of remote and on-site work.

We are requiring employees to be in the office three days a week – with core days being Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. On Mondays and Fridays, employees may choose to work remotely, although the office will still be open.
