Maxar is currently seeking a Subcontracts Specialist to join our team in Herndon, VA. In this role, you will be part of a procurement team that manages major subcontractor on Government and Commercial programs and support proposal submittals to the Government and Commercial customers. You will be responsible for all phases of the procurement life cycle and will ensure compliance to contract terms and federal regulations pertinent to your procurements.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct market research to identify sources of supply for systems, components, and/or services.
- Review competitive proposals for systems and services offered by suppliers and prepare comparative analyses of factors such as cost, delivery schedule, quality, and past performance.
- Negotiate subcontract requirements, prices, and terms and conditions.
- Issue subcontracts to start ups and large defense contractors.
- Maintain procurement history records on all transactions.
- Extensively interact with multiple functions including engineering, operations, quality, finance, accounting, and management to achieve procurement objectives.
- Manage suppliers and expedite supplier deliverables. Resolve supplier problems as they arise.
- Ensure that procurement actions and file documents support maintaining a Defense Contract.
- Management Agency (DCMA) approved Purchasing System.
- Ensure compliance with all contractual, regulatory and audit requirements, including Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), Defense Federal Acquisition Regulations (DFARS), and contract terms and conditions.
- May provide guidance to and supervise procurement personnel.
Minimum requirements for this position:
- Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability and willingness to obtain a TS/SCI clearance.
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, supply chain, economics, or a related field. Four additional years of experience may be substituted for a degree.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in procurement.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience at a government contractor or subcontractor.
- Experience managing contract manufacturers.
Preferred requirements:
- Aerospace and Defense industry experience
- Experience successfully passing a DCMA Contractor Purchasing System Review (CPSR)
- Experience with Deltek CostPoint
- Possess strong, fluent, and effective communication skills both written and verbal in English

The successful candidate's starting pay will fall within the salary range provided below and is determined based on job-related factors, including, but not limited to, the experience, qualifications, knowledge, skills, geographic work location, and market conditions. Candidates with the minimum necessary experience, qualifications, knowledge, and skillsets for the position should not expect to receive the upper end of the pay range.
• The base pay for this position within the Washington, DC metropolitan area is: $65,000.00 - $109,000.00 annually.
For all other states, we use geographic cost of labor as an input to develop market-driven ranges for our roles, and as such, each location where we hire may have a different range.
