Job Description
Our offices in Western Canada are in the middle of a large growth trajectory. This means new, exciting complex projects that you will have the ability to shape and be a part of. Our Energy and Resources Civil-Structural group specializes in the engineering of wide range of industrial structures, underground structures and hydraulic structures. Working closely with our clients, our dedicated professionals help to establish and understand the specific needs of a range of heavy and light industrial projects. This is where great ideas and rewarding careers are built. Focused on providing the most cost-effective solutions to engineering challenges, we are involved in a diverse range of projects from the initial planning stages to design, construction, and commissioning. This position will be of interest to candidates with less 2-5 years of directly-related experience in structural engineering.
Overview:
An opportunity currently exists in our Rossland offices for a Junior or Intermediate Structural Engineer. The ideal candidate will be required to have a good university level understanding of concrete and steel design. The successful candidate will concurrently work on a range of projects of complexity, construction value and at different stages in the procurement cycle.
You will draw on your proactive and analytical problem solving skills to deliver structural solutions working under supervision and supporting larger interdisciplinary teams.

Primary Responsibilities
- Conducts structural inspections for industrial projects and will occiasionally be on site in an industrial plant or construction site
- Designs for equipment foundations and support structures
- Confident making technical decisions with limited information
- Estimates and prepares engineering proposals
- Ensures projects are on task, on budget and on schedule
- Approves and stamps own project design and reports, and those of engineers in training for whom you are providing peer review, as appropriate
- Client-facing, able to well-represent the company and the community in presentations and meetings
Qualifications
- 2-5 years experience in structural engineering
- Registered P.Eng or able to register in the province of BC
- Self-motivation and strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal) along with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks are essential.
- The successful candidate should also demonstrate a commitment to client service that is second to none.
- Highly organized and able to prioritize multiple tasks and demonstrate a flexible approach to work assignments.
- A proven passion for your profession and employ results driven practices.
- Able to work occasionally on site in an industrial plant or construction site
The following qualifications and experience would be an advantage:
- Knowledge of Canadian codes and standards.
- Possesses design experience in heavy industries such as Oil & Gas, Mining, Substation design experience - an asset
- Working knowledge of Canadian codes and standards, as well as knowledgeable of good design practices.
- Proficiency in the use of SAP 2000 or similar.
The expected salary for this position is from $70,000 to $102,000 based on the richness and diversity of the candidate’s experience, training, skills and internal equity. The position or associated salary could vary depending on the profile of the candidate.
