Hermeus is an aerospace and defense technology company founded to radically accelerate air travel by delivering hypersonic aircraft. The company aims to develop hypersonic aircraft quickly and cost-effectively by integrating hardware-rich, iterative development with modern computing and autonomy. This approach has been validated through design, build, and test of the company’s first combined turbojet-ramjet engine and is now being scaled through its first flight vehicle program, Quarterhorse. Hermeus is also developing Darkhorse — an uncrewed hypersonic aircraft designed to deliver unique asymmetric capabilities to the warfighter.
We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Strategic Sourcing Manager to join our team. This role will focus on direct materials and play a critical role in the overall success of Hermeus' supply chain model. Acting as a key interface between various stakeholders, our Strategic Sourcing Manager will be responsible for driving all aspects of strategic and tactical elements of the business operations.
Responsibilities:
- You will collaborate with engineering and production teams to conduct capacity planning and contribute to designs capable of being rapidly sourced
- You will own strategy of specific commodities across the business, ensuring that these are successful across all teams
- You will strategize/prioritize on-order hardware to optimize speed and quality, driving necessary and timely action for potential supply issues, and providing accurate supply projections
- You will establish necessary contracts with suppliers including SOW's, MSA, etc
- You will manage key suppliers and will strategically source and develop new suppliers to maintain lowest cost, predictable availability, and industry-leading quality
- You will work with Hermeus cross-functional teams to achieve established and emerging business goals and objectives
- You will build and improve purchasing processes, including but not limited to, supplier quality, timely delivery to need and management
Qualifications:
- 5+ years supply chain or commodity management experience in a fast-paced development/NPI environment
- Demonstrated experience effecting change in engineering products based on supply chain landscape and knowledge
- Strong negotiation skills and understanding of product cost/should cost estimation
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to identify, onboard, and manage strategic supplier relationships
- Demonstrated ability to lead and collaborate effectively across functions in a dynamic environment
- Strong work ethic with a high degree of flexibility
- Experience drafting, negotiating, and executing complex contracts and subcontracts
- Experience interpreting and/or enforcing contract terms and conditions
- Familiarity with procurement/ERP systems
- Must be willing to work onsite full-time
Multipliers:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering or a technical discipline
- Experience in developing and driving supply plan modeling
- Familiarity with International Traffic in Arms Regulation (ITAR), Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), and Department of Defense FAR Supplement (DFARS)
- Experience in aerospace industry or a hardware startup
