MANDATE SUMMARY
As a VP, Strategic Referral Partnerships, you will have a broad mandate and will support some of our largest Canadian referral partnerships. This will include but is not limited to ongoing partner engagement including an established meeting/business review cadence, educating aligned partners regarding our unique partnership value proposition, effectively communicating ongoing and relevant partnership updates, as well as coordinating and collaborating with internal partners to ensure effective and efficient use of internal resources for the benefit of growing and/or deepening our important Partnerships.
In addition, you have a strategic mindset, you are an innovator, not concerned with challenging the status quo, you are a strong collaborator, organized and detail oriented, have an in-depth knowledge of how to navigate internal bureaucracy and have a strong understanding of the payment acceptance industry.
The primary objective of the role is to increase partner performance (Growth/Retention) as well as enhance product knowledge and awareness and help to identify opportunities to improve penetration. You are responsible for the development, implementation and overall ownership for assigned partnerships. This role will provide Merchant Services awareness, education, opportunity analysis, in support of driving growth and partner merchant retention. This includes building and strengthening key relationships from frontline staff through to senior leadership, ensuring ongoing communication is provided, supporting the development of sales and marketing strategies as well as overseeing the performance and monitoring of the assigned portfolio. This individual will leverage cross-functional business knowledge, financial acumen, strong internal relationships, and leadership skills to drive effective collaboration between the strategic partnership and Chase Merchant Services across the Canadian business.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Build strong partnerships with aligned partner leadership and their teams to drive increased Chase Merchant Services' penetration
- Be the subject matter expert, effectively communicating our value proposition, industry updates along with product and service capabilities.
- Build and effectively deliver large scale business reviews to discuss results against key performance indicators and develop strategies to positively impact the relationship for both Chase Merchant Services and the strategic partner.
- Provide ongoing education, coaching and sales presentations to support the partner's distribution network
- Assess existing programs and go to market strategies, identify opportunities to implement changes required to achieve overall growth & retention targets within the aligned partner portfolio.
- Works closely with the Sales and Marketing teams to develop and champion campaigns and initiatives, ensuring support and execution.
- Determine success criteria for Partner Programs, tracking critical metrics and managing partner relationships to ensure a continued flow of referrals.
- Institute relationship oversight and engagement to achieve common growth & retention for Partners.
- Act as a liaison managing multiple internal business units, including Sales, Relationship Management, Loyalty & Retention, Marketing, Operations, Help Desk, as well as all external parties to ensure success of programs and a high-level of satisfaction from the partner relationships
- Deliver a high quality and efficient service model, serving as a primary point of contact, managing and resolving issues with partners to ensure timeliness and success of program
- Prepare required status reports and communicate effectively to senior management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum seven years business to business sales and strategic account management experience at the highest executive levels. A strong knowledge of the financial services and payment processing bankcard industries are highly desirable.
- Bilingual (English/French) an asset
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent training in business, marketing and sales in lieu of degree.
- Exceptional relationship management skills
- Highly organized, self-starter, demonstrates creativity, resourcefulness and shows strong leadership
- Results driven with a strategic mindset and strong business acumen with the ability to work well under pressure & meet critical deadlines
- Highly self-motivated, positive and enthusiastic
- Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills and the ability to present and influence at an executive level
- Resourcefulness - Able to work with a wide variety of internal and external resources including managing expectations, dispute resolution, and establishing credibility/trust. Problem-solving, analytical skills and the ability to balance multiple tasks simultaneously are essential

- Communications - demonstrates excellent communication and presentation skills both written and verbal, and an ability to adapt to the audience - executive, technical, finance, etc.

- Able to deliver/develop presentations of current and future products and solutions
- Able to extract data and analyze portfolio performance and trends
- Able to drive influence upward and downward within department
- Strong attention to detail, technical, organization and analytical skills
- Proficient at Windows based Office Suite to include Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
