Strategic Project Development Manager
Location: Greenwood Village, CO
CLP Engineering (CLPE) is seeking an experienced Strategic Project Development Manager who will focus on developing EPC projects (mainly microgrids including generation and storage, infrastructure upgrades, and smart technologies). This position will also provide support on proposals, estimates, project execution planning, and building stronger in-house project managment, construction management and QA/QC processes/capabilities.
CLPE is a full-service electric utility solutions engineering firm with more than twenty years’ experience in electrical utility system ownership, upgrades, maintenance and operations through our sister company, City Light & Power. CLPE offers a wide range of power system engineering services to investor-owned, municipal, cooperative, government, industrial, and commercial customers.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate, establish, and manage customer and partner relationships to develop project opportunities that align with CLPE’s strategic business development goals. This includes engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) of microgrids, energy storage systems, renewable energy, on-site generation, electric distribution upgrades, smart grid projects, and SCADA/Automation projects.
- Assist in developing marketing initiatives and strategies to target strategic project development.
- Track upcoming and on-going RFPs, RFQs, and posted opportunities for strategic projects and collaborate with CLPE stakeholders in reviewing and making decisions on whether to pursue the opportunities or not.
- Coordinate and develop technical and commercial proposal packages: vendor and subcontractor engagement, collaboration with engineering teams and across departments, seeking feedback from leadership team.
- Develop conceptual solutions, plans, preliminary drawings/sketches, and scope for EPC projects in collaboration with customers and seek technical and commercial reviews/inputs from the engineering and leadership team in the process.
- Facilitate project execution plan, kickoff meetings, and initial design processes to ensure proposal concepts, scope, and timelines get fully translated into project execution processes.
- Attend tradeshows, conferences, technical presentations, and industry events to promote and showcase CLP Engineering capabilities.
- Participate in developing company business growth plans and help meet the growth goals.
- Train and mentor junior team members in developing their skills and capabilities.
- Consistently deliver high quality customer service to existing Clients and establish rapport with new ones.

Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, engineering, or related field with background in technical/engineering business development and project management.
- Minimum of five (5+) years’ of engineering work experience to include marketing and sales duties.
- Familiar with electrical power distribution systems.
- Previous experience with proposals, and other documentation to prepare time/cost/labor estimates for projects and services.
- Ability to prepare preliminary schedules in Microsoft Project.
- Ability to manage complex projects and multi-task.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, verbal, written, and communication skills required.
- Must be a team player and be able to work with various partners from start to finish.
- Available for 20% travel.
Work Authorization/Security Clearance:
- You must be a US Citizen.
- You will be required to obtain Military Base Access Security Clearance.
- Valid driver’s license is required.

- We offer an excellent benefits package that includes medical insurance, dental insurance, life insurance, 401k with company contribution, paid time off and paid holidays.
- Salary range: $120,000-$180,000/year based on experience plus eligible for participation in Short Term Incentive Plan.
