Now, we’re looking for a Strategic Planning & Engagement Manager to join our Sydney team and help shape the future direction of Iress.

The Strategic Planning & Engagement Manager will play a key role in delivering Board-mandated initiatives and managing core BAU strategic processes. This role integrates both an outside-in perspective - through industry, market, and competitor analysis and an inside-out perspective, drawing on business performance insights, growth opportunities, strategic risk evaluation, portfolio assessments, and operating model analysis. The Strategic Planning & Engagement Manager will collaborate closely with Iress’ Group Executive and business unit leadership teams, leading cross-functional and cross-business unit strategic initiatives that shape and influence the organisation’s future direction.

  • Leading cross-functional strategic initiatives that drive business growth, innovation, and transformation.

  • Delivering critical Board-mandated projects and managing core strategic processes such as Quarterly Business Reviews and Five-Year Planning.

  • Shaping our competitive intelligence framework—tracking emerging market trends, uncovering opportunities, and translating insights into action.

  • Supporting major growth strategies and special projects that have a real impact on Iress' future success.

  • Building strong, trusted relationships with senior leaders, external partners, and third-party vendors.

  • Bringing fresh, outside-in perspectives through competitor analysis, market dynamics evaluation, and strategic risk assessments.

  • Working directly with Iress’ CEO, Group Leadership Team, and business unit heads to ensure alignment and insight-driven decision making.

What you will bring:

  • 4–5+ years' experience in a strategy function, preferably within a top-tier management consulting firm or an in-house strategy team.

  • Understanding of the financial services industry, with particular expertise in wealth management or trading.

  • Strong financial modelling skills, with a proven ability to evaluate and assess strategic business opportunities through robust quantitative analysis.

  • Skilled in market and competitor intelligence, with the ability to identify emerging trends, evaluate market dynamics, and align insights to strategic priorities.

  • Experience leading hypothesis-driven project work, including problem structuring, analytical validation, stakeholder alignment, and implementation planning.

  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders across all levels of the organisation, including executive leadership.

  • Experience building and managing strategic external relationships with third-party vendors and partners.

  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills (both written and verbal), with the ability to craft clear, concise, and compelling messages tailored to a variety of audiences.

  • Highly motivated, driven, modest, low-ego professional with a strong personal and professional ethic and a sense of urgency.

  • Comfortable working in fast-paced, ambiguous environments and contributing to high-stakes, board-level strategic priorities.
