Role Summary:
The Finance team plays a crucial role in driving strategic decisions and enhancing our financial performance through data-driven financial planning and analysis. This dynamic team works cross-functionally across finance, accounting, sales and data to provide understanding and predictability to our bottom line, collaborating closely with the CFO and VP of Finance on mission-critical projects.
We are looking for a Strategic Financial Analyst with a natural curiosity and a collaborative spirit that is seeking to fast-track their growth by making impactful decisions and fully owning the outcomes. As a Strategic Financial Analyst, you will thoroughly analyze and maintain a diverse range of financial models, translate complex business logic into new financial models, and conduct a wide array of ad-hoc analyses. Join us downtown in our iconic office on 6th street, enjoy amazing food and cocktails day and night while this rocketship ignites. Investment banking, management consulting, private equity, data science, or other technical analyst-type experience is strongly preferred but not required.
Who You Are:
- You’re a voracious technical learner. Driven by a deep-seated curiosity, you eagerly take on challenging tasks beyond your regular duties. You excel at understanding complex concepts and rapidly learn new technical skills to help automate workflows.
- You take full ownership of your workflows. You tackle any task head-on, big or small, and see projects through to the end. You handle challenges without making excuses, demonstrating a scrappy, can-do attitude every step of the way.
- You’re an FP&A savant. You're a master of modeling inside Excel and Google Sheets, and have extensive experience with financial analysis and forecasting, ideally in a corporate finance or investment banking environment. You also have basic experience in Python / SQL or have a strong willingness to learn.
- You’re a detail-oriented critical thinker. You possess exceptional analytical skills and a keen eye for detail. You embrace ambiguity, and can interpret complex financial data and draw conclusions which you can succinctly articulate.
Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
- Radiate curiosity in all aspects of the business by identifying improvements and enthusiastically collaborating with the team to see them through to successful completion.
- Thoroughly analyze and deconstruct inKind’s diverse financial models to gain a deep understanding of their core functionality, ideally gaining the ability to rebuild the models from scratch.
- Maintain and implement improvements on existing financial forecasts, investment fund models, and complex debt facility models. Enhance models with data connectors to maintain a near real-time pulse of the business.
- Take full ownership of models, becoming an expert on every input and capable of articulating the downstream implications and nuances of best, base, and downside cases.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand key business issues and complex business logic, then translate sometimes ambiguous concepts into clear, concise financial models that incorporate diverse assumptions and business strategies.
- Proactively improve forecasting accuracy of all models by tracking forecast vs actuals and incorporating enhancements.
- Perform complex ad-hoc analysis, often fusing unrelated data sources together to generate insightful conclusions and recommendations (possibly involving sales pipelines, cash flow, revenue forecasts, operating expenses, GAAP-related accounting issues, etc.).
- Distill broad swaths of information and data into succinct summaries that you can clearly articulate to investors and external stakeholders.
- Identify inefficiencies across the entire company and enhance workflow automation using no-code/low-code solutions.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Extensive experience as a financial or data analyst, or related work.
- Bachelor’s Degree, ideally in a technical field.
- Exceptional proficiency in Excel and Google Sheets
- Strong FP&A capabilities and a robust understanding of finance and basic accounting.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Extensive experience in investment banking, management consulting, private equity, FP&A at a high-growth technology or financial services company.
- Experience in a fast-paced startup environment
- Experience with SQL and Python
