Job Summary
The Communications Advisor helps facilitate and support marketing and communications requirements related to specific internal partner groups. Reporting to the Director, Communications, this individual works collaboratively with the broader Marketing and Communications (M&C) team to help deliver effective communication campaigns for strategic special projects with measurable outcomes, while ensuring alignment with HOOPP's Strategic Plan and upholding our core values.
A creative, collaborative, and proactive approach, strong oral and written communication skills, effective time management and attention to detail are requirements for success in this role.
** Note - This is a contract position for 14-15 months
What you will do:
- Managing communication campaigns and tactics to support strategic special projects for partners such as Human Resources, Information Technology and others.
- Produce various communication materials for HOOPP's internal (and occasionally external) communications channels. This could include researching, writing, editing articles, presentations, all-staff emails, training materials, newsletters, etc.
- Develop communication materials that follow HOOPP's branding guidelines within written content.
- Build an understanding of the internal partner groups' objectives and business requirements for specific projects.
- Ensure communications calendars and project plans are up to date.
- Assist with planning and scheduling marketing and communication work within the Agile environment.
- Maintain positive working relationships with internal stakeholders and M&C team members.
- Help execute communication tactics that ensure audiences are provided with timely and accurate information.
- Coordinate services provided by external consultants and vendors for communications related programs.
What you bring:
- University degree or college diploma in journalism, communications or public relations, or equivalent training, education and/or experience.
- 3-5 years of experience in communications (including special projects that involved employee communications, change management or HR communications).
- Excellent writing, editing, proof-reading and attention to detail; ability to translate technical concepts into plain language.
- Proven ability to express ideas proactively in a clear, well-organized manner.
- Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills.
- Strong ability to prioritize workload and manage competing priorities to meet deadlines.
- Flexible approach to work and positive attitude.
- Proven vendor and project management skills.
- Computer skills - MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), SharePoint.
- Prior pension industry knowledge, basic graphic design skills and experience working in an Agile environment an asset.
