We’re looking for someone who is passionate about education and is interested in joining a fast-paced startup as an operational leader and editorial expert.

The State Adoption Editor plays a crucial role in ensuring that our 3-12 curriculum programs align with state-specific standards and requirements for instructional materials adoption. This position requires a strong understanding of state education policies, curriculum standards, and the adoption process to support product compliance and approval in key markets. The ideal candidate will work closely with editorial, product development, and marketing teams to tailor content for state adoption submissions, develop compliance documentation, and support the sales team with adoption-related materials.

Key Responsibilities:State Standards Alignment & Compliance

  • Analyze state curriculum standards, frameworks, and instructional requirements to ensure product alignment.
  • Collaborate with content developers, instructional designers, and subject matter experts to modify curriculum as needed to meet state adoption criteria.
  • Conduct gap analyses to identify areas where content needs to be revised or supplemented for state approval.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of evolving state education policies and adoption trends.

Adoption Submissions & Documentation

  • Prepare and manage adoption submissions, including correlation documents, narratives, and other required compliance materials.
  • Ensure all documentation is accurate, persuasive, and tailored to specific state requirements.
  • Manage timelines for multiple adoption cycles and coordinate submissions with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Respond to state education agencies’ questions and feedback regarding submissions.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with marketing and sales teams to provide key messaging and documentation for adoption-related promotional efforts.
  • Partner with product management to guide development decisions based on adoption criteria.
  • Train sales representatives on key aspects of state adoption requirements and how the curriculum meets state mandates.

Market Research & Competitive Analysis

  • Conduct research on competitor programs and state adoption landscapes to identify opportunities and challenges.
  • Stay informed about new legislative and regulatory changes that impact the instructional materials adoption process.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, English, Curriculum & Instruction, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 3+ years of experience in educational publishing, curriculum development, or state adoption processes.
  • Strong understanding of K-12 instructional materials adoption processes and state education standards.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and organizational skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively across teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and content management systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with state adoption submissions in multiple states, especially Texas, Florida, and/or California.
  • Familiarity with digital curriculum platforms and accessibility compliance requirements.
  • Background in K-12 teaching or instructional design.
