About the role

As a Staff Visual Product Designer at Crunchyroll, you will provide Crunchyroll with a visual refresh and evolve the Crunchyroll app experience across mobile, web, and TV. This will help enhance our experiences and delight our anime fans. 

You will work with a team of designers who collaborate with user researchers, product management, and engineers to evolve experiences through iterative improvements and new features. You will also define and bring projects from concept to production, ensuring user goals are represented. You will handle the review process, both within the design department and with partner teams, and provide constructive input to the designs of other designers on your team. Your designs should show an understanding of the industry, our competitors, and especially empathy for our users. You will think through problems and use your design expertise to create solutions that provide our users with an outstanding user experience that is elegant, engaging, and functional.

In the role of Staff Visual Product Designer, you will report to the Director, Product Design.

About You

  • 12+ years of professional visual design experience
  • Strong visual capabilities and a wide range of styles
  • Experience with brand and identity work
  • Experience with design programs like Figma and Adobe Creative Cloud
  • Demonstrate a user-centered approach and have empathy for the end-users
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment
  • Adept collaborator working with teams
  • Experience designing visual design language for UI
  • Anime fan, understanding of anime fandom, or similar fandom

Pluses:

  • Strong illustration capabilities
  • Experience designing UI for TV devices
  • Experience working in streaming or entertainment industry
  • Experience with prototyping

About the Team

The Product Design department is a distributed team responsible for creating Crunchyroll's video streaming services. Our work encompasses the new Crunchyroll website, the mobile apps, and the TV experiences. Our mission is to provide a fabulous and engaging user experience for lovers of anime and manga content everywhere!As a partner to business, product, and engineering groups, we collaborate with teams across the company to identify the right problems and ensure that our solutions satisfy the goals of both the business and the end-user.

The Pay Range for this position is listed. Actual pay will vary based on factors including, but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Crunchyroll’s Total Rewards offerings for employees. Employees engage in a combination of remote and on-site work.

Two in-person days per week. Tuesdays and Thursdays are the company-wide days for ALL team members to be in the office, and individuals may choose to come in more if the please.
