Position Overview:
We’re seeking a visual designer to elevate our brand in specific, high-visibility ways. This hands-on role will be a key contributor to the ongoing development of Backlight’s brand, joining an in-house team that’s rapidly evolving to meet the demands of the business.

What You’ll Do:

  • Visual Design: Our team makes everything: slide decks, marketing ads, sales materials, emails, landing pages. In this role, you’ll be first and foremost a maker — you’ll define systems for layouts, typography, color, and composition, pushing the Backlight brand forward through the delivery of our most critical assets.
  • Motion Design and Oversight: Individually, and with the assistance of external agencies and consultants, you will guide the production of motion assets. This role will also contribute to the creation of motion design guidelines that will define when and how our creative comes to life.
  • Design Strategy: Why we make what we make is as important as the final asset — to that end, this role will be involved in the entire creative process, from brief to measurement. The brand and creative team is a force multiplier for the company, and it is everyone’s responsibility to push ideas and concepts so that they are innovative and sharp. 

What You’ll Bring:

  • Speed & Scale: We are not a mass production shop, but we do have deadlines. Experience working for in-house teams or agencies where design craft collides with deliverable calendars is key.
  • Results: Every designer has great work that’s never shipped, and while spec creative can be compelling, we are looking for someone who has work in the wild they can point to — even better if you can speak to the outcomes of that work in addition to the process.
  • Authenticity: Wide points of reference are welcomed. Non-linear careers are invited. We get that not everyone has direct 1:1 B2B Media SaaS experience — and that’s ok. Show us that record cover you designed. Or the side project you’re working on. Or those ceramics just out of view on Zoom. Our team is made up of folks with diverse design backgrounds, and we value taste above all else — show us yours.
