About the Role

In this position, the Mechanical Technical Program Manager (TPM) will be responsible for supporting mechanical teams, program level TPMs, and extended teams during development and execution of server platform programs throughout the product lifecycle driving design, and development activities from product definition and planning through production, release, and end of life.
 

What You will Do

  • Manage and track mechanical deliverables from early concept through production across portfolio of server and storage platforms and ensure mechanical solutions are delivered on time.

  • Develop schedules based on mechanical system requirements, technical challenges, lead times, and business needs and ensure key schedule milestones are met.

  • Manage and track mechanical issues and test cases with mechanical teams & customer.

  • Responsible for planning, interpreting, organizing, and managing projects through all phases of development.

  • Manage the delivery of hardware for development builds and ensure mechanical qualification meets mass production timelines.

  • Support customer facing activities (i.e., BOM alignment, documentation, etc).

  • Support extended teams beyond mechanicals which can include thermals, shock & vibration, reliability, compliance (EMI/EMC/Safety), EE, NPI, and procurement.

  • Work with project managers on material management for engineering builds.

  • Ensure the manufacturability, reliability, and serviceability of designs in relation to mechanicals.

  • Work with architecture teams to review and provide feedback to business teams regarding program deliverables and requirement definition (i.e., SOWs, new specs, etc.).

  • Interact with customers on a regular basis to ensure mechanical related activities are supported.

What You Bring

  • Minimally a BS in Mechanical Engineering with 5+ years of experience or a Masters with 3+ years of experience.

  • Strongly prefer 7-10 years of relevant experience in mechanical design for server and storage development.

  • 5+ years as a lead.

  • Technical background in product development and R&D for mechanical and/or electrical systems.

  • Experience in working directly with customers.

  • Mechanical Engineering degree.

  • Manufacturing experience.

  • Experience with system test and validation (thermals, S/V, EMI/EMC, reliability).

  • Excellent understanding of business goals and objectives as they relate to customer use cases and solutions (i.e., SOWs, RFPs, etc.).

  • Strong cross-functional team management, strong interpersonal skills, and adaptive communication style.

  • Strong project management skills in developing schedules and tracking milestones.

  • Excellent organizational, communication and presentation skills.

  • Ability to view situations objectively from different perspectives and develop a risk mitigation plan for an enhanced decision-making process.

  • Ability to resolve complex problems, drive for results, and lead strategically.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

  • PMP certification a plus.
