Therefore we’re on the hunt for a Staff Software Engineer (Backend) who’s ready to take the lead in shaping the backend architecture of our AI Medical Scribe Platform. 

The Role

 As the go-to technical leader, you’ll not only design and build scalable systems but lead cross functional collaboration between engineering, product, and other teams to ensure our backend systems power a seamless experience for our users while setting the technical vision for our product.

This role is perfect for someone who thrives in high-growth environments and loves tackling complex technical challenges, working closely with cross functional teams and senior leaders.

You thrive in challenging situations, and you appreciate the dynamics of a flexible, flat-structured work environment. You are quick to grasp the nuances and complexities of developing an AI product healthcare internationally. 

Whilst you will be looked to for technical leadership and coaching, you will still retain a hands-on role, on the tools delivering robust code alongside all our engineers.

What you'll do: 

Ultimately you will have the opportunity to work with the engineering mastermind behind Heidi developing AI products which will change the face of healthcare.

  • Lead the design and development of scalable, high-performance backend systems.

  • Architect and implement critical features for our platform, ensuring scalability and reliability.

  • Drive cross-functional collaboration with product, frontend, and AI teams to deliver cohesive solutions.

  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to the engineering team, raising the bar across the board..

  • Drive decisions on architecture, tooling, and frameworks, balancing innovation with maintainability.

  • Balance delivering new product features with managing technical debt.

  • Solve complex technical problems, from optimizing performance to designing fault-tolerant systems.

  • Autonomously deliver beautiful & robust code with considerations on code structure design and scalability.

  • Implement and optimize data storage solutions.

What we’ll look for: 

  • 10+ years of backend development experience.

  • Strong sense of ownership & strong problem-solving skills.

  • Proven technical leadership experience high-growth environments, scaling backend systems to meet growing demand.

  • Strong back-end development experience in Python is highly beneficial but not a must.

  • Solid experience with MongoDB and Redis for data management.

  • Experience building & managing  message queue systems at scale.

  • Writing testable, effective and communicative code

  • Data modeling, design patterns, understanding trade-offs

  • Deep understanding of API design principles, including security, versioning, and performance.

  • Experience with observability tools and practices including implementation of monitoring, alerting, and distributed tracing in large-scale production environments

  • Data & application security knowledge and skills

  • Experience in integrating with third-party systems

  • Competent with source code control and CI/CD pipeline technologies.

  • Architecting and building highly available, scalable, secure & performant systems
