At Groq. We believe in an AI economy powered by human agency. We envision a world where AI is accessible to all, a world that demands processing power that is better, faster, and more affordable than is available today. AI applications are currently constrained by the limitations of the Graphics Processing Unit (GPU), a technology originally developed for the gaming market and soon to become the weakest link in the AI economy.

Enter Groq's LPU™ AI Inference Technology. Specifically engineered for the demands of large language models (LLMs), the Language Processing Unit outpaces the GPU in speed, power, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. The quickest way to understand the opportunity is to watch the following talk – groq.link/scspdemo.

Why join Groq? AI will change humanity forever, and we believe preservation of human agency and self determination is only possible if AI is made affordably and universally accessible. Groq’s LPUs will power AI from an early stage, and you will get to leave your fingerprint on civilization.

Staff Software Engineer Anti Abuse

Mission: Protect the integrity of our platform by building systems that make fraud and abuse exceedingly difficult, ensuring we can safely and economically offer free and developer tiers that can onboard millions of developers to GroqCloud.

Role Responsibilities & Outcomes:

  • Build Fraud and Abuse Mitigation for GroqCloud: Build appropriate measurement tools to characterize the amount of abuse on our platform. Assist in developing a roadmap and executing that roadmap  to drive down abuse utilization.
  • Design and Develop Detection Mechanisms: Design, provision, and deploy monitoring solutions to track fraud and abuse patterns in real-time. Build systems to detect anomalies and flag potential abuse automatically. Leverage machine learning where appropriate.
  • Mitigation Tools and Automation: Build tools that cross-functional team members can use to stem detected abuse that has slipped through our automation.
  • Observability and Analytics: Develop and maintain dashboards and metrics to monitor fraud and abuse trends.
  • Balance Friction with User Experience: Recommend and build appropriate places for adding friction to account creation, etc. in order to stem abuse. Ensure we have appropriate measurements in place to understand the impact of these techniques
  • Communicate Effectively to Leadership: Build and maintain dashboards reviewed by leadership to provide visibility into fraud and abuse trends. Deliver actionable insights to drive informed decision-making regarding our free tier strategy and business tradeoffs.
  • Continuous Improvement of Fraud Prevention Strategies: Stay ahead of emerging fraud and abuse tactics. Regularly evaluate and enhance tools, techniques, and processes to ensure robust fraud prevention and detection.

Ideal candidates have:

  • 6+ years of software development experience

  • Experience with Bigquery, Honeycomb, Prometheus + Grafana
  • Experience with mitigating abuse across multiple regional deployments
  • Knowledge of machine learning techniques and their application to fraud and abuse detection is a plus.
  • Strong ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring alignment and buy-in for fraud mitigation strategies.
  • Bias to Action: Make decisions and ship code. You shouldn’t like meetings.
  • Self-Driven: See projects through end-to-end independently. You should have the desire to take a project from design all the way from idea to getting customer feedback
  • Attention to Detail. Focus on the nitpicks. Building with a high degree of craftsmanship and shipping great products is the way to have the most fun at work
