The Analog Garage is ADI’s Research and Advanced Development Center in downtown Boston and empowers ADI by pioneering breakthrough technologies. We are looking for a Rapid Prototyping Engineer to expand our systems prototyping team. This team is crucial for turning our innovations into reality by developing the mechanical, electrical, and electro-mechanical features of our prototypes.

Responsibilities

Participates in several active projects where they analyze project goals, requirements, and constraints to translate them into functional prototypes.

Collaborates with the team to formulate hypotheses and designs and builds experimental systems to verify our hypotheses.

Exercises judgement on build versus buy for experimental subsystems.

Present and refine experimental systems with the team, other ADI business units, and prospective customers and design partners. `

Transfers specifications, designs, and learnings of successful prototypes to other ADI staff and collaborates with them as they build higher fidelity versions or actual products.
Requirements

Master’s degree or equivalent experience in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, UI/UX Design, Computer Science, or Mechanical Engineering

Proven ability to absorb requirements and translate them into functional designs

Proven ability to build rough prototypes

Demonstrated experience with 3D modelling

Demonstrated ability to realize 3D models with 3D printers, CNC, laser cutters, and similar rapid prototyping equipment

Demonstrated ability to build basic systems from off-the-shelf electrical modules and components

Basic business acumen

8+ years of experience
