The Role
Businesses thrive on relationships, and the Customer Engagement team is at the heart of enabling Sellers to build long-lasting connections with their customers. Through products like Loyalty, Gift Cards, Text Message Marketing, Email Marketing, and House Accounts, we help businesses attract, engage, and retain customers across Square's multiple flagship Point of Sale applications.
As a Staff iOS Software Engineer, you will be at the forefront of shaping these experiences-architecting solutions, mentoring engineers, and delivering high-impact features that power millions of transactions. You'll partner closely with designers, product managers, and other engineering teams to build seamless, intuitive, and performant mobile experiences.We're looking for a technical leader with deep iOS expertise who is not afraid of complexity, thrives in cross-functional environments, and is passionate about crafting high-quality software that makes a tangible difference for businesses and their customers.
You Will

  • Lead the technical vision for iOS, shaping how our team builds and maintains scalable, high-quality mobile experiences.
  • Foster a culture of technical excellence, mentoring engineers, improving team processes, and driving architectural improvements.
  • Influence Square's iOS community, contributing to shared frameworks, developer tooling, and engineering best practices.
  • Work cross-platform, contributing to Android development where it makes sense, ensuring consistent experiences across all mobile surfaces.
  • Drive cross-functional initiatives, working with product, design and other engineering teams to deliver impactful customer experiences.


You Have

  • 12+ years of experience developing in iOS
  • Experience leading technical initiatives that have a broad impact across teams or organizations.
  • An ability and willingness to mentor and elevate those around you.
  • Proven success in cross-team collaboration, aligning stakeholders to drive major initiatives.
  • A passion for building engaging, world-class customer experiences.
  • [Preferred] Willingness and experience working in Android development.
  • [Preferred] Experience with customer engagement and retention products, such as loyalty programs or digital marketing tools.

The successful candidate's starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.
