Staff Systems Engineer, New Product Introduction
The Staff Systems Engineer is a key contributor responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining instrument infrastructure using their broad technical expertise across multiple engineering disciplines, including electrical, mechanical, and software engineering. This role requires leadership in technical excellence, representing NPI on project core teams, and driving continuous improvement throughout the organization.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
System Design and Implementation:
- Assist in the design and deployment of new applications and enhancements to existing applications, software, and operating systems.
- Support the installation, configuration, testing, and maintenance of hardware, software, and system management tools.
Testing and Validation:
- Design test fixture for multiple Instrument subassemblies.
- Verification and validation of Instrument test fixtures.
Troubleshooting and Support:
- Assist in troubleshooting hardware and software issues across various platforms and applications.
- Provide support to resolve technical issues, escalated from the field or production floor.
Collaboration:
- Work with cross-functional teams, including software developers, hardware engineers, and project managers.
- Communicate integration status, issues, and progress to stakeholders.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Create and maintain accurate documentation of work instructions, processes, and procedures.
- Assist in preparing reports on system performance and status.
- Write test fixture requirements documentation.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Technical Requirements:
- 4+ years’ experience of system integration principles.
- Familiarity with software development and hardware components.
- Experience in design and development of complex subsystems such as electromechanical, fluidics, software, and assay/chemistry.
- Familiarity working in manufacturing or with a Third-Party Manufacturer is a plus Knowledge of defined development process that is consistent with ISO design requirements.
- Experience with Python and C#.
- Familiarity with SolidWorks.
Education/Experience:
- Typically requires a minimum of 7-10 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline (Electrical, Mechanical, Computer Science, Systems, Software, or a related field).
Problem Solving:
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
- Strong analytical skills to diagnose problems and identify solutions.
Communication:
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Teamwork:
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Collaborative mindset to work with various departments and stakeholders.
Attention to Detail:
- High level of accuracy in work and documentation.
- Ability to develop detailed procedures and ensure quality.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift 40lbs. Lifting, transporting, installing heavy objects such as computers and peripherals.

Salary Range:
$128,800.00 - $193,200.00
