We are seeking a skilled Staff Electrical Manufacturing Engineer to join our team onsite in Mountain View, CA.  The successful candidate is local to the Bay Area, or willing to relocate, and will be responsible for owning the manufacturing builds and processes of our electrical PCBs and harnesses that are critical to the operation of our autonomous vehicles.  The role will work closely with the hardware engineering team and external contract manufacturers to streamline the build and integration of electrical components in our vehicles. This role will also own multiple aspects of the manufacturing process including: generating and reviewing verification procedures, creating work instructions, and driving manufacturing issues to closure to ensure that we are building a safe and reliable driverless vehicle.

In this role, you will:

  • Responsible for issue management, tracking failure modes, and driving issues to closure
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and implement new capital equipment to scale manufacturing capabilities
  • Ability to train technicians in a hands-on hardware environment
  • Communicate manufacturing issues to cross-functional design teams and drive MCO processes
  • Ability to think creatively to resolve and challenge conflicting requirements
  • Drive contract manufacturing of external harness builds and PCB builds and automate wherever possible
  • Adhering to a strict quality process that aligns with ISO26262 standard
  • Interface closely with other teams such as Software, Mechanical, Manufacturing, and with external suppliers
  • Travel is expected in this role to support the manufacturing build of our vehicles

What you'll bring:

  • BS or MS, or equivalent experience in Electrical, Mechanical, or Computer Engineering
  • 10+ years of electrical manufacturing experience, ideally within the automotive, aerospace or a related industry
  • 5+ years of experience with PCBAs, Harnesses, and capital test equipment
  • Deep understanding of failure analysis
  • Experience with implementation and on-vehicle debugging of low level hardware buses such as I2C, CAN, SPI, and Ethernet
  • Hands on. You are just as comfortable getting your hands dirty analyzing a subsystem in the shop as when using a keyboard.
  • Great communicator. You have experience writing clear, concise, and detailed documentation
  • Passion. You are passionate about autonomous vehicles and their potential impact on humanity

What we offer:

  • Competitive compensation package including equity and biannual bonuses
  • Excellent Medical, Dental, and Vision plans through Kaiser Permanente, Anthem, and Guardian (including a medical plan with infertility benefits)
