JAS is an international, non-asset-based supply chain services and solutions company. Our services include air and ocean freight forwarding, contract logistics, customs brokerage, distribution, inbound logistics, truckload brokerage and other supply chain management services, including consulting, the coordination of purchase orders and customized management services.
The Staff Accountant will assist the department with monthly close and will provide analysis and reports to support the process. Daily activities including but not limited to creation of journal entries, billing, process vendor payments, reconciliation of intercompany accounts, analysis of general ledger accounts and variances.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Billing of monthly invoices
• Handle Accounts Payable/Receivable duties; vendor correspondence
• Process intercompany transactions and reconciliations
• Record recurring and month-end closing journal entries (including Accruals and Prepayments)
• Performing monthly balance sheet reconciliation
• Process check requests, ACH and wire payments
• Process Netting settlements
• Prepare cash forecast and tracking activities
• Maintaining documentation for accounts payable and purchasing
• Record fixed assets and leases related transactions
• Support team with monthly, quarterly and yearly reporting to management
• Assist Senior Accountant on month-end closing
• Assist Controller/Accounting Manager with the annual Audit and Budget
• Process employee expense and mileage reimbursements
• Maintain relationship with shared JAS service centers
• Other duties and projects as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:• Detail oriented, able to multitask and meet deadlines
• Self-motivated, able to work in a team and independently
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP
• Exceptional organizational and communication skills (written and verbal)
• Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
• Self-starterEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
• 3-5 years of experience in finance or accounting
• Prior experience as a Staff Accountant, or equivalent duties
• GL, AP, and AR experience
• International accounting experience a plus
• Experience operating in a team environmentENVIRONMENT:100% performed in climate-controlled internal office environment working under normal office conditions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; stand; walk; use hands and finger to feel and handle; reach with arms and hands; talk and hear. While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently is required to stoop, kneel, and crouch; lift weight or exert a force up to a maximum of 25 pounds.
