Staff Accountant Job Description

What You'll Do:

• Generate and process customer invoices in an accurate and timely manner.
• Review contracts and sales orders to ensure proper invoicing in line with company policies.
• Track and resolve any discrepancies or billing issues.
• Maintain up-to-date records of customer billing and payment history.
• Proactively manage accounts receivable, ensuring timely follow-up on outstanding invoices.
• Assist with the monthly financial close process, including preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis.
• Support the preparation of monthly financial reports and reporting.
• Identify opportunities for streamlining invoicing, collections, and close procedures.
• Assist in the implementation of new accounting software and/or processes to enhance efficiency.
• Prepare supporting documentation for audits and respond to auditor inquiries.
• Assist in other ad-hoc projects as necessary.

What You Have:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 2-3 years of experience in accounting, with a focus on US GAAP accounting.
• Proficiency with accounting software (NetSuite, Maxio) and strong Excel skills.
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
• Knowledge of GAAP and accounting best practices.
• Experience in collections and handling customer communications.
• [Preferred] Familiarity with revenue recognition standards (e.g., ASC 606) is a plus.
• [Preferred] Strong communication skills for interacting with internal and external stakeholders.
• [Preferred] CPA is a plus
