The Opportunity
Abbott in Cherrywood (Dublin) is looking for a SRE (Site Reliability Engineer) Manager to join our Cardiac Rhythm Management (CRM) Business. This is a newly created role for SRE professional that would be passionate to join a healthcare leader and shape the future of Health-Tech (also known as Med-Tech)
As a SRE Manager you will lead the SRE Team and be responsible for the reliability of the platform and product operations. This is a hands-on role, to improve and establish SRE practices for services hosted on Azure Cloud and applications hosted within Abbott datacenters. This is a broad cross-organization role with high-visibility, collaborating with multiple teams. Collaboration with various teams is critical to success.
You will lead a team of Site Reliability Engineers who thrive in a fast-paced workplace, where drive and collaboration are the keys to success. As a leader, you will be responsible for coaching and mentoring team members, helping them achieve service goals, and build career paths.
About the team
The SRE Engineering team provides a fast-paced, dynamic work environment where engineers work closely to provide software services to patients and physicians. You will collaborate with other engineers in DevOps, SW Development, Systems engineering, Technical support to continue finding new areas that can be improved by bringing a SRE mindset to product offerings. What You Will Do
- Recruit and lead the newly created European team in daily agile SRE practices
- Being responsible for coaching and mentoring team members, helping them achieve service goals, and build career paths
- Optimize cloud data workloads for security, cost, performance, latency, reliability, and availability
- Drive incident management, tier 2 support, and post-mortem analysis
- Support audits and compliance
- Implement effective standards, methodologies, and processes, driving change proactively as appropriate for continuous improvement
- Interact and communicate collaboratively at the highest technical levels with internal and external stakeholders
Qualifications & Profile
- 3+ years experience building and leading engineering teams, ideally SRE
- 3+ years experience in product operations
- 6+ years in critical, large scale distributed systems experience, combining Software development and operations
- Understanding of SRE principals (monitoring, alerting, error budgets, fault analysis, and other common reliability engineering concepts) with a keen eye for continuous improvements
- Strong interpersonal skills, capable of working with multi-functional technical and business teams and varying levels of management
- Building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Bachelors or Masters in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience
- Continual knowledge transfer, training and mentoring of staff
- Implement structured engineering and operations processes.
