Varian is looking for a User Experience Researcher to join our expanding Radiation Oncology Solutions Business Unit. This role requires a strong background in research and human factors. The ideal candidate will conduct a range of user research studies to inform the design and enhancement of our hardware and software products, while also fostering a deeper understanding of customer needs and experiences.
You are responsible for:

Planning and executing high-quality research to help us define the long-term goal of the product

Earning partners' trust to drive effective relationships.

Demonstrating proven knowledge of the problems, how competitors solve them, and where gaps exist.
Designing research plans:
-
Clearly defining your long- and short-term research goals and research questions in alignment with stakeholders.
-
Planning user research initiatives for the product line you are working on.
-
Actively contributing to the user research process and documentation.
Running research:
-
Conducting a variety of research studies including contextual inquiry, user interviews, focus groups, task analysis, card sorting, expert reviews, design walkthroughs, formative and summative usability tests, and surveys.

Extensive experience with planning and running usability tests is an absolute must (optional with eye tracking).

Communicating research data and outcomes to the program stakeholders, provide easy to understand KPIs, and advise on the next steps.
Executing within the medical environment constrains:

Leading the UCD activities for your product line, according to our work instructions.

Ensuring all required Design documentation comply with the IEC 62366-1:2015 specification.
Collaborating to learn and grow:

Actively engaging with Sr designers and Sr researchers to give and solicit feedback to continually ensure that your research is meets high quality standards.

Actively seeking feedback from team members to you grow.
Minimum Qualifications:
-
Masters in psychology, Human Factors, Human Computer Interaction, Cognitive Science, or closely related field is preferred

5+ years of experience in user research with an emphasis on research related to software and hardware product design
-
Excellent knowledge of User Centered Design process and the ability to apply them flexibly across a variety of project types.

Have an online portfolio or a PDF portfolio that can be shared along with the application. Application without a portfolio will not be considered.

Great communication and presentation skills that speak to a broad range of audiences.

Experience working in the healthcare domain with design control, regulatory practices, and standards for medical devices or similar regulated industries is a nice to have.

Knowledge of agile software development methods is highly desired.

The base pay range for this position is
Min $108,500 - Max $195,100
The pay wage range shown is based on the job posting's primary location. Actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors, including but not limited to skill set, experience, certifications, and location.
