Overview:
Revvity is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to lead cross-disciplinary product integration efforts, ensuring the seamless development of Next Generation Sequencing NGS workflows and microfluidic electrophoresis platforms. This role will drive system-level architecture, develop and execute integration strategies, and optimize hardware, software, and assay workflows to transform cutting-edge technologies into scalable, market-ready solutions. The ideal candidate will be a technical leader with hands-on expertise in fluidics, thermal, optics, and electromechanical systems, seamlessly integrating engineering disciplines with life science to optimize product performance and reliability. This role is on-site based at our Hopkinton, MA site (4 days a week on-site).
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Own system-level integration of microfluidic, optical, thermal, & electromechanical components, ensuring reliable performance across platforms.
- Bridge engineering and scientific workflows, acting as a technical liaison between mechanical, electrical, software, and assay development teams.
- Develop and manage system requirements, translating scientific and user needs into clear, testable engineering specifications.
- Lead system verification & validation (V&V) efforts, developing test protocols and analyzing system performance data to ensure compliance with design requirements.
- Perform hands-on system testing, with a strong emphasis on fluidics which includes bench chemistry techniques for system validation and assay integration.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Quality, Regulatory, Operations, and Manufacturing, to drive prototype development, pilot builds, and product scaling.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a science related field (Mechanical, Chemical, Biomedical, Systems Engineering or related).
- 5+ years of experience in systems integration.
- 3+ years of experience with electromechanical, fluidic, & thermal systems, hands-on assembly, testing, and troubleshooting.
- 1+ years of experience with automation scripting (Python, MATLAB, or similar) for hardware control and data analysis.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in systems integration preferably in life science, medical devices, or biotech instrumentation 8+ years of experience or an advanced engineering degree is preferred.
- Experience with microfluidics, capillary electrophoresis, precision liquid handling, and/or NGS workflows.
- Exposure to prototyping with sensors, actuators, motors, and embedded control systems in life science applications.
- Familiarity in CAD (Solidworks, Creo, etc.) and PLM software (Agile, Arena, etc.).
- Excellent organizational, verbal, & written communication skills, with a strong ability to document findings in formal reports.
