About The Team
Our team’s mission is to build Roku’s IOT devices, which complement our TV solutions. We do this in close cooperation with ODM’s and ensure the products fulfil Roku’s desire to launch high-quality products at an attractive price point. As Senior SW Engineer in Smart Home OS, you will join an experienced group delivering OS solutions for small embedded devices.
Because this is a senior-level role with a high level of visibility, you must have a proven track record of designing, developing, and porting software for new hardware platforms, from prototype to mass production. We value people who pride themselves on their ability to navigate ambiguity, collaborate, and partner with both internal and external teams, who have demanding engineering standards and a passion for working within the constraints of partner requirements to build the highest-performing, best-in-class consumer products.

About the Role
With so many people using our products globally, we've become well-known for products that "just work" right out of the box and integrate almost by magic. To support that commitment, the Roku NPI IOT Team focuses on developing all products and features for the Roku’s new Smart Home IOT product portfolio. Roku Smart Home brings you simple, smart products for anywhere you call home. Easily integrate home monitoring, custom lighting, and smart power at a better value than ever before.
What You'll Be Doing
- Architecture and development of solutions in Roku’s proprietary IOT RTOS, working primarily in C
- Real time performance analysis and battery consumption optimizationsIntegration between IOT and Roku OS solutions
- SoC vendor porting requirements definition
- Code maintenance and scalability solution design and development
- Partner with internal QA and development teams
We're Excited If You Have
- Extenisve experience in Embedded Software Engineering
- Hands on experience with C/C++ coding experience
- Expertise in realtime software
- Experience working with RTOSs
- Experience working with IOT products, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or other relevant fields
- Ability to excel working in a fast-paced engineering environment
- Have an ability to communicate with candour and effectiveness
- Experience working collaboratively with cross-functional teams
- Familiarity with Python is a bonus
- International product experience (nice to have)
