When you join Design Group as a Sr. Structural Designer, you are joining a team that will challenge you and position you for growth. In this role, you will work with a team of industry experts to help the world’s leading companies solve their most difficult challenging problems. You will join our Architecture/Engineering/Construction Process Practice and partner with seasoned leaders, technical specialists, and subject matter experts to deliver the highest quality solutions to our clients with consistency and accuracy.
What You’ll Do
You'll work individually and in teams to support capital projects and implement solutions for our clients. Together, you will help our clients make critical changes to improve their performance and realize their most important goals.
- Work with other drafters/designers and structural engineers to create and assemble a complete set of structural design documents
- Develop structural 3D BIM models of new and existing building facilities using Revit (LOD-300)
- Create construction documents using AutoCAD and Revit
- Help develop structural team Revit drafting standards, best practices, and update Revit templates
- Work with structural engineers and perform field surveys to develop existing BIM models using available field data or by utilizing point cloud
- Work closely with BIM managers to keep abreast all BIM related changes
- Help streamline the process of structural drawing production by developing Revit families and building and organizing a typical detail library
- Prepare Navisworks models to help with clash detection
- Attend project specific BIM coordination meetings to assist with clash detection across disciplines
- Perform BIM quality checks and fill out quality control checklists for project specific BIM work
- Develop creative solutions for complex structural problems
- Lead in the presentation of 3D BIM content during client and project team meetings
- Guide the team on best-in-class design practices and CAD technologies
- Make an impact day-to-day with your skills and expertise, strengthening that relationship with our clients and team.
What You’ll Bring
- A minimum of ten years of structural drafter/designer experience with commercial and/or industrial structural design projects
- Proficiency in 3D BIM software (Revit, Navisworks) and AutoCAD
- Experience in the structural design of facilities for the food/beverage, pharma/life science, or consumer products industries is a plus
- Familiarity with Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) is a plus
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, and the ability to interact successfully with our your team members and clients
- A willingness to travel for project requirements including site inspection, installation and start-up activities, client and company sponsored meetings, trainings, industry related seminars, forums, and conventions
- A minimum of associate degree or technology degree is required
