Sr. Structural Design Engineer

STV is seeking a Structural Design Engineer to join our team in Owings Mills, MD. You’ll work alongside some of the most talented minds in transportation design, gaining exposure to a wide variety of structural projects and playing a key role in transforming concepts into reality.

What You’ll Do:

• Design and analyze new and existing bridges, retaining walls, culverts, sign structures, and other transportation-related structures

• Support bridge rehabilitation efforts and load rating calculations

• Produce construction documents, including drawings, specifications, and cost estimates

• Conduct and support bridge condition inspections (highway and rail transit)

• Prepare inspection and structural evaluation reports

• Review contractor submittals, shop drawings, and RFIs

• Contribute to constructability reviews and quality assurance

• Prepare Quality Control documentation and assist in proposal development

• Support Design-Build pursuits and construction engineering packages

• Share expertise and mentor junior staff

What You Bring:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master’s preferred)

• 13+ years of experience in structural design and analysis (steel, concrete, pre-stressed concrete, timber)

• Proficiency in design software such as Midas, LARS, MDX, STAAD, CSi Bridge, Leap Bridge, AASHTOWARE, and PennDOT tools

• Experience with MicroStation (preferred) and/or AutoCAD

• Maryland PE License (or ability to obtain quickly)

• Familiarity with Maryland agencies (MDTA, SHA, or MTA) is a plus

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Experience with bridge management tools (InspectTech, ASIR) a plus

• Certified Bridge Safety Inspection (CBSI) Certification (preferred)

• Willingness and ability to perform fieldwork, including climbing and working at heights

• Valid driver’s license and a safe driving record

Compensation Range:

$106,908.24 - $142,544.33
