What We Are Looking For:
We are looking for an experienced engineer to join the Flight Controls System Team at Archer. This role has a strong focus on the development and certification of the Archer’s fly-by-wire flight control system and its integration with other aircraft systems, such as avionics, high and low voltage power distribution, and engines. Having end-to-end system knowledge and experience is a must.
What you’ll do: (specifics on what the role entails and what is to be expected of the candidate on a daily basis)
- Acquire deep knowledge and understanding of inner workings of Archer's fly-by-wire Flight Control System
- Develop and coordinate development of complex system functions, following established system development processes guided by ARP-4754A
- Design and implement requirements and algorithms for the flight control system and its subsystems.
- Design and implement requirements for the aircraft sensors and state estimation algorithms, including sensor selection, voting, monitoring, fault detection, and sensor fusion.
- Perform analyses supporting system development
- Support the integration and test of the flight control system and evaluate system performance during aircraft lab integration and flight test campaigns
- Implement creative solutions to efficiently verify complex systems and software
- Analyze flight and lab test data to support new developments and troubleshooting of existing problems
- Collaborate with Systems Safety and Systems Engineering to identify and correct any deficiencies in the flight control system.
- Collaborate with Software Engineering to properly implement and verify flight control system algorithms
- Collaborate with Certification when developing certification plans and showing compliance with certification regulations
- Be the voice of the system when collaborating with multiple areas and departments of the company, such as flight sciences, flight test, flight operation, flight training, production, maintenance, etc.
What you need: (degrees, skills, years of experience, etc.)
- Strong knowledge of fly-by-wire flight control systems or vehicle management systems development, integration, and certification.
- At least 10 years of direct experience working with flight control or vehicle management systems
- BS in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical/Computer Engineering, or a related field
Bonus Qualifications:
- Familiarity with aircraft or rotorcraft performance and handling qualities requirements
- Experience with modeling physics, sensors, and actuators
- Experience with source selection and fault detection of redundant sensors inputs
- Technical knowledge of electro-mechanical actuation
- Technical knowledge of aircraft sensors such as AHRS, INS, GNSS, and others such as Air Data Systems and Radar Altimeters
- Experience with SAE ARP4754A, RTCA DO-178C, or RTCA DO-331
- Prior work with certification of airplanes or rotorcraft, including knowledge of federal airworthiness standards such as 14 CFR Part 23, 25, 27 or 29

We drive a pay-for-performance culture and reward performance that supports the Company’s business strategy. For this position we are targeting a base pay between $186,240 - 232,800. Actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
