Meet the team
The Sr Staff Commercial Operations Analyst – Japan will play a vital role in optimising sales operations, financial planning, and analytics to drive commercial success in the Japanese market. This role requires close collaboration with the APAC Commercial Operations Lead and alignment with global strategies to ensure seamless execution and consistency. The position demands a thorough understanding of Japan's healthcare market, strong analytical expertise, and a strategic mindset to implement best practices and innovative solutions.

Strategic Leadership
- Partner with local, APAC, and global leadership to create commercial strategies tailored to the Japanese market
- Align Japan’s operational plans with APAC and global strategies, ensuring consistency and effective execution while leveraging global best practices
- Provide insights and recommendations to optimise commercial operations, drive profitable growth to exceed targets, and support long-term growth
Sales Operations Management
- Develop and maintain regular and ad-hoc reports and dashboards to track sales force performance & activities, revenue, and customer trends that provide comprehensive visibility into key performance indicators (KPIs). Present reports and dashboards with actionable insights and findings in a clear, concise manner to support sales leadership in making informed decisions
- Utilise various data sources, including CRM systems, marketing platforms, and financial databases, to conduct in-depth analysis of sales team performance, territory and account segmentation, and product/service performance. Identify trends, patterns, areas of success or improvement, and performance metrics to generate meaningful insights and actionable recommendations for sales leaders and key stakeholders
- Administer and maintain the CRM system, ensuring data accuracy, completeness, and integrity. Implement enhancements and customizations to meet evolving business requirements. Provide training and support to sales teams to optimize their usage of the CRM platform
- Implement data quality controls and ensure data integrity to maintain accurate and reliable sales data. This includes the creation and maintenance of detailed documentation of Sales processes, policies and procedures. Collaborate and ensure that all relevant stakeholders have access to up-to-date information and guidelines to uphold data governance policies
- Use data insights to identify growth opportunities, target customer segments, and optimize sales approaches. Proactively identify enhancements and insights to the Global and / or Regional Sales Leaders to enhance sales operating effectiveness/efficiencies
- Collaborate with the Sales Training / Enablement team to develop data-driven training materials, sales tools, and resources for Sales representatives. Ensure that the Sales team is equipped with the necessary data and analytics to enhance their performance. Assist in onboarding new sales team members and provide ongoing support in leveraging sales tools and processes effectively
Data, Analytics and Insights
- Act as a strategic partner to the Commercial team in key activities, such as brand planning, performance analysis, and assessment of sales and marketing initiatives.
- Partner with commercial leadership and other functions to provide insightful summaries and suggest ways to optimize the execution of strategic programs.
- Develop, maintain, and oversee performance reporting against key performance indicators, working with functional leads to understand strategic initiatives and identify ways to measure performance.
- Manage advanced analytics projects including ROI analyses of various strategic initiatives.
- Provide recommendations to the Commercial team to ensure measurable outcomes for new initiatives and optimal mix of spend and investments.
- Effectively explain modelling assumptions to key stakeholders including senior leadership via oral and written communication. Partner cross-functionally with Finance, Sales, Sales Operations, Forecasting, and other relevant stakeholders to communicate analysis and context clearly and effectively throughout the organization as needed.
- Manage vendor relationships with external consultants and data partners in support of commercial objectives.
- Manage and execute ad hoc analysis projects.
- Prepare, distribute, and present various reports to stakeholders throughout the organization, including senior management, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Ensure all data and reporting are managed in a compliant manner and adhere to the highest level of quality.
Forecasting
- Maintain and improve current Forecasting models and look at creative ways to solve problems and provide insights to support the range of forecasts for the business
- Incorporate market research and secondary data sources as drivers of the forecast
- Coordinate with the Global Forecasting team, and own the weekly, quarterly, and annual planning cycles
- Develop and integrate various commercial analytics to inform key forecast assumptions and to provide a data-driven point of view on the impact of product and market events
- Lead the short-term and long-term forecasts of both inline and upcoming products
- Critical collaborator and coordination with pricing, corporate and regional finance, corporate and regional sales, marketing (particularly for new product introduction), and operations
- Mobilize and model broad and varied scenarios to fuel rolling forecasts, updated automatically with relevant, current information so plans for tomorrow reflect in real-time
- Clearly and concisely present forecast assumptions and results to senior leadership
- Provide forecast to sales operations for IC goal setting and S&OP for manufacturing and planning
- Partner effectively and collaborate with internal divisions to integrate key market dynamics and cross-functional expertise into demand forecasts
Cross-Functional and Global Collaboration
- Work closely with APAC Commercial Operations and align with global teams to drive seamless implementation of initiatives
- Coordinate with marketing, operations, and global stakeholders to ensure cohesive execution of commercial strategies
- Provide feedback and share insights from the Japanese market to enhance global models and strategies
What makes you successful:
- You must have at least minimum of 10 years in sales operations, analytics, or finance roles, with at least 5 years of leadership experience in Japan’s healthcare or MedTech industry
- You must have experience with secondary data sources, such as sales and prescription data, medical claims, remittance data etc.
- You must have ability to work effectively with regional and global teams
- You have expertise in analytics tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) and CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce, Veeva), advanced Excel modelling skills and familiarity with secondary data sources
- You have English and Japanese language business level.
- You have strong interpersonal and collaboration skills to work effectively with local, APAC, and global teams
- You have strategic and analytical mindset with a focus on delivering measurable outcomes
