Job Overview
We are looking for a Senior Platform Engineer to join our Platform Engineering Team, responsible for building and maintaining the foundational infrastructure, tools, and workflows that enable seamless software development and delivery at PitchBook. This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who is passionate about developer enablement, automation, and scalable cloud platforms.
As a Senior Platform Engineer, you will design, build, and enhance our internal platforms, CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes infrastructure, and developer tooling. You will work closely with developers, SREs, and security teams to create self-service solutions that empower product teams to deploy, manage, and scale their services efficiently.

Team Overview
Platform Engineering is a critical function of Engineering Operations and consists of all facets of building a "platform" of shared & managed services that are used by our Product Teams to deliver software, fast, repeatably, autonomously, and without friction or hand-offs.
Outline of Duties and Responsibilities
- Own engineering operations strategies, practices, and standards across the organization, working closely with engineering leadership.
- Evangelize operational excellence within Pitchbook engineering teams, integrating product and engineering with operations seamlessly through structure, collaboration, enablement, and automation.
- Devise solutions that optimize and accelerate the SDLC while maintaining exceptional quality and security, repeatedly applied through automation.
- Help development teams to manage infrastructure, including cloud managed services, base images, containerization strategy and execution, infrastructure automation (+ GitOps), cloud procurement, and governance.
- Manage developer experience (DevEx), including developer productivity, SDLC and operational metrics, automated CI/CD pipelines, value stream management and tracking, tool selection and integration.
- Describe technical context in intuitive ways for different audiences, adapting communication from highly technical deep dives with engineers to non-technical dialogue with executive stakeholders.
- Learn constantly, including in available managed services (PaaS/SaaS/IaaS), libraries, frameworks, and platforms (commercial and open source), pros/cons and cost/benefit tradeoffs.
- Follows the company's application of Agile, Lean, and principles of fast flow to engineering department efficiency and productivity and owns operations' role in process automation to achieve fluidity.
Experience, Skills and Qualifications
- Extensive experience in Docker, Kubernetes, Linux, network, CDN, protocols.
- Solid experience in DevOps, Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), and GitOps configuration & CI/CD pipelines, including Flux, Terraform, Gitlab CI/GitHub Actions, or similar tools.
- Solid understanding of programming best practices and principles, common software architectures and methods.
- Extensive experience designing and managing cloud-based solutions, infrastructure management , including web services, messaging solutions (Kafka, Pub/Sub), databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MS SQL Server), and caching solutions.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. You can effectively read the situation and adjust your communication style to the audience.
- Experience with cloud providers: GCP, AWS.
Working Conditions
The job conditions for this position are in a standard office setting. Employees in this position use PC and phone on an on-going basis throughout the day. Limited corporate travel may be required to remote offices or other business meetings and events.
