Minimum required skills
- 6+ years of C++ (C++14 or newer) software experience
- State-space systems modeling
- Least-squares or other state estimation problem solving, including weighted, linear and nonlinear systems
- BS in Engineering, Atmospheric Sciences, or Mathematics with 6+ years of experience in state-based control systems, state estimation, or signal processing, or MS in Engineering/Mathematics and 4+ years experience.
- Be a US Person for export control purposes according to 22 CFR 120.15.

Additional Skills
In addition to the minimum skills listed above, a strong candidate will also have experience which exercised one or more of the following additional skills.
- Polynomial interpolation and extrapolation
- Experience in data analytics and prototyping in Python, using Numpy, Scipy, Matplotlib, and similar.
- State feedback control systems and related technologies, such as Kalman filters, Luenberger observers, linear quadratic regulators, and/or full-state feedback system design and implementation in software.
- FIR and IIR filter design and implementation in software.
- Data structures and modeling
- Object-oriented software design
- SQL
Bonus Points
While experience in our industry or an adjacent industry is not required, an exceptionally strong candidate may have experience in one or more of the following application domains:
- GNSS signal processing or radar applications
- Atmospheric sciences, esp variational data assimilation
- Weather data analytics

What You Will Be Doing
- We're looking for an experienced, driven, and highly-technical software engineer who wants to build crazy stuff from the ground up.
- PlanetiQ is building an advanced GNSS radiooccultation data preprocessing and assimilation (DA) system for numerical weather prediction (NWP) to probe the Earth’s troposphere in unprecedented detail.
- You will be able to wear multiple hats in a dynamic startup environment according to your skills and interests. For example, you may also have the opportunity to implement signal processing software in an embedded realtime remote sensing environment in low-Earth orbit, contribute to relational database schema design, or analyze analog microwave RF signal filters.
- You will design, code, test, evolve, and debug new and existing features in a Linux-based cloud-hosted computing environment.
- You will participate in agile planning and code reviews, hitting deadlines according to the predicted schedule.
- Operate in a hybrid workplace, at least three days per week in our Golden, CO office.
