Brief Description:
Infinera is currently seeking an engineer with optical networking experience (preferably Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing) with a desire to learn product marketing to join the Infinera Marketing team.
This individual will be both the project leader and a key contributor in describing, positioning, and marketing Infinera’s products for RFI/RFPs (request for Information/proposals) from telecom operators around the world.
Moreover, he will play a key role in analyzing different carrier networking environments and in the development of optimized solutions, working closely with Marketing, Sales, PLM, Optical and Software Engineering departments
Education /Qualification: Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics and communication/telecommunication/computer engineering, Master’s degree is a plus. Job-related equivalent experience will be considered.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Working with Sales to determine which products/solutions to propose
- Organizing the headquarter resources as needed to respond to customer questions
- Developing the positioning and value proposition of the Infinera product and solutions proposed for each RFI/RFP
- Both using the various corporate knowledge bases and interfacing with Infinera Marketing, Engineering, Sales, and other departments to answer customer questions
- Providing face-face marketing support for customer meeting
- Creation of product-centric collateral, such as presentations and applications notes, used by the Infinera Sales team to describe the features and unique benefits of an Infinera solution
- Analysis of competitive products and technologies and development of attack/defend counter-positioning
- Present about Infinera and its products at industry tradeshows and technical conferences
Experience Necessary for Success:
- 10+ years’ experience in optical/packet transport systems and applications (DWDM, OTN,POTN, Ethernet/IP)
- Working knowledge of carrier-class networking architecture and systems, including following technologies: WDM, IP/MPLS/GMPLS/Ethernet.
- Working knowledge of the latest market trends in optical networking, including Embedded high performance advanced modulation schemes, pluggable optical transceivers trends and various open MSAs.
- Functional experience within either sales engineering or product management
- Good team-working skills with the ability to reach out and identify support resources across a wide range of company organizations
- Strong program management experience, with ability to simultaneously manage activities and deliverables across a range of projects and work with various groups to collect and track required deliverables
- Experience in responding to customer queries or tenders is desirable.
- Experience in creating technical papers and presentations is desirable.
Soft Skills:
- Ability to work in a multi-task environment across organizational boundaries
- Strong problem definition and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written, presentation and communication skills
- Works with minimal supervision. Independently identifies complex issues and resolves complex problems
- Windows PC proficiency should at least include MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
- Experience in creating technical papers and presentations is desirable
