The Role

The Senior Manager, Product Development – Emerging Brands (Teva / Ahnu) is an inquisitive, motivated, collaborative solutions-oriented product development professional with experience preferably in athletic and/or outdoor product.  The Senior Manager, Product Development will be a key member of the product creation team sharing insights, suggestions, and information to deliver quality products focused on delivering to product expectations.  A strong candidate for this position will approach the work collaboratively and with a curiosity as to how we can make good products and processes better, bring a strong understanding of manufacturing  and process to the team, is able to prescribe testing from product briefs with designs, and demonstrates Deckers Leadership Behaviors.  This person will have management and mentoring experience in helping others grow.

Your Impact
 

The primary functions of this role, includes but are not limited to:

  • 1.  Provide leadership and mentoring of manufacturing expertise with development know-how to teammates focused on elevating product quality and team performance efficiency.
  • 2.  Manage the product creation process from brief through design to finished sample focused on delivering product on-time, at cost, in good quality with superior customer service.
  • 3.  Proactively identify issues and offer suggestions for technical packages, constructions, materials, costs, duties, etc.…to teammates to achieve product business goals while delivering quality work.
  • 4.  Analyze competitive product constructions as well as technical drawings, lasts, lab tests, patterns, components, and fit/wear test reports to enhance product benefits.

You can align cross functional partners with clear communication using your technical understanding to influence product direction while supporting teammates.
 

We’d love to hear from people with

  • 10 + years' experience in the footwear industry
  • Experience building product specifications and managing team expectations ensuring good process.
  • Contemporary knowledge of product construction, materials, design applications, molding, and compounds.
  • 5+ years management experience
  • Experience traveling to and/or working with overseas factory development centers.

$155,000-$165,000

The salary range posted reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this role in our Goleta, CA location. Individual pay will be determined by location and additional factors, including job related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary for your preferred location during the hiring process.
